It is very important to ask your doctor to do a prolactin level. If the prolactin level is high he should order an MRI of the pituitary to see if you have a tumor growing on your pituitary. Missed period are one of the symptoms of a pituitary problem.

Heartsy has a good point but I would also try and get a 2nd opinion. It is not good to go that long without a period. Please try and see if you can speak to another doctor that will run all the required blood work and tests to see why you are not starting your period. The doctor is there for you and should be trying to assist you, not refuse you medical care.

hiya hun,

Im 22 and ive not had any periods for over 9 months either and doesnt look like im gonna have one any time soon! so i feel for you i really do. you should really go back to your doc as there are drugs out there to help. if the doc refuses to help you then seek a second opinion, some doctors are more helpful than others. I have just been put on metformin as i am trying for a baby, im hoping that this mite make me ovulate again! maybe u could get something similar.

I hope you get things sorted!!! keep ur chin up xx

I again urge you to ask your doctor to do a prolactin level to see if your pituitary is functioning properly. That was the only known symptom that my daughter had and after many test and trials of hormones, he finally did a prolactin level and found the prolactinoma growing on the pituitary from an MRI. Another main symptom is drainage from the nipples, although she did not have that.

It was causing many othyer symptoms that she did not recognize, like weight gain, lethargy and trouble with her eyes.

A blood test is a small thing to do, even if you have to pay for it yourself, to ensure that your health is guarded.

Yeah, for me the lack of periods is totally weight related. Everytime I get CLOSE to 200lbs--which w/THIS problem is a struggle to stay down from--I 100% stop my period. That can lead to probs b/c the endometrial lining is STILL building up to some extent! Right now I haven't had a period in 6 mos. That and the facial hair is just lovely.
