 I' m here trying to diagnose myself, lol, okay, does anyone here ever have weird facial sensations without the migraine? I've been having these tickling sensation, or bug crawling sensation on the left side of face and sometimes on the tip of my nose, have had these fro 6 years now. Had brain MRI done in April, everything normal except extensive sinus thickening. I also have the base of skull pain, shoulder pain, ear pain. I have never had numbness anywhere. No weakness, no vision problem, nor dizziness. Hope someone can shed some light on my on-going dilemna. Thank you and goodnight!!!!

Yes and No. I haven't had your symptions but sometimes I get what they call silent Migraines. I will get the halo or flashing tiny lights and have to wait until they go away before I can do anything requiring vision.

I have begun to develop a wierd pulsating/twitching of the eye and muscles around the eye on which ever side my headache is on. I've had this for the last few months, but I've had the migraines for 2-3 years and this is a new development. Sometimes the eye will continue to seem to twitch for days or weeks after that particular headache. Yes, I've seen the dr, and no, they don't know why this happens. Just another manifestation of "the headache". The eye
dr said it was because my eyes were tired and gave me glasses. I can see better with the glasses, but everything still twitches. Anybody else have this?

I have just recently started to have a pins and needles sensation on the right side of my face and lips. almost feels like i have had alot of novacaine at the dentist. hurt my neck recently and the dr. told me the facial twitches and numbness are not from the neck but from the brain. have had an MRI and MRA and there is nothing wrong. it comes and goes. have a headache everyday from my neck but no migraines. I give up. nobody seems to know what it's from.

Lorriem,

You had said you get the tiny flashing lights or halo in your vision. Do you get a dull headache after that? This is what happens to me. The vision thing lasts about 5 minutes or less then I get the annoying headache for about an hour or two...ugg. this seems like it started when I was pregnant and has continued ever since (about 7 months.) Can't pin point the trigger---possibly lack of sleep though.

ICC, the doc said that your neck woudn't cause these sensations on your face? Mine said the same, that's why I had the MRI. I've had these for 6 years now. My Physical therapist said that the nerve that supplies the sensation to your face is actually a cranial nerve, but there are branches that run down towards the base of your skull (occipital). Mine neck pain is actually at the base of my skull, down side of neck and into the shoulder. It is a boring, burning, aching that is just horrible. I hope that the pt helps some. I think if it doesn't I'm going to ask for a cervical MRI. Although, unlike you, I don't get the pins and needles or numbness, mine is more like a tickle, or bug crawling sensation. Hope you the best!!!

Sometimes I might get a dull headache when this happens but most often not. I just dread when this happens and I get a full blown migraine. But when I don't get any headache that is what my old doctor use to call them silent migraines. I even had two mri's to rule anything else out. I have yet to find a trigger also yet tension does play a big role I have noticed.

[DELETED] There not facial expressions, there sensations. Mine is felt on the left side of face, migraines are left sided, on rare occasions they sometime move to the right. They feel like bugs crawling under my skin, these are usually after I feel the muscle tense in the jaw area. Just recently started PT, seems to have helped some with these feelings. [DELETED]

Tordek, maybe try an antibiotic for the sinus mucus, I did, the facial feelings went away for a while after that, but now there back, it seems that when these feelings are really bad I get that feeling. Yes, mine is like a tightening then the buggy feeling starts, but it only lasts for a few seconds. I had the MRI done and the only thing that showed was extensive sinus thickening. Hope I could help some. Take care.
