Well i just quit smoking 4 or 5 weeks ago and thats about the time my lungs stared driving me crazy. they itch so bad inside and it goes into my arms and it itches so bad i cant get rid of it. could this be because i quite smoking or something else?

Hi Kirsten,

Nope, you aren't going crazy. What you are feeling is the re-growth of Cilia.

Cilia are little hairs that grow in your throat and bronchial tracts. They move back and forward and assist in the removal of mucous. When you smoke, these hairs can be burned off completely and can often be the cause of the dreaded smokers cough!

If you've ever shaved your armpits and put up with the niggling itch of regrowth, you can understand why your throat and lungs are now itchy.

The itching should dissipate as your renewed cilia reach maturity.

Until then, sorry but you're stuck with it!
