My son Owen was dx with Epilepsy after he had first seizure on May 10th (90 minute Status). He was fist put on Trileptal; but it made him into a mad man! After six weeks of stepping him on & off he was finally put on Depateke. He's been on it for 6 days! Today he seemed to have some kind of episode on & off for six hours! (He played some what with his sister and in the sand box) But, now as I look back on the late afternoon it seems more like some kind of something? He was tired, complained about stomach, spacey, cured up in the fetal position, eyes wondering, mouth chewing and by evening he had a small fever! So I treated the fever and continued to watch him closely…

update: had too treat three times for fevers over night. He did alot moving and turning durning the overnite hrs? This morning he is compliang of that his mouth hurts. So I'll take him to the pediatricans! I think his threasthold is lowering!

We just had our first appointment with him this past Monday! Since Owen had seizure it was noted on the MRI that he had swelling on the RT Hippocampus. My opiion is he has had change to his personality! Our recent Neuro plan is retake the EEG in September and do a new MRI in Oct/ Nov? Hopefully by Sept the better news that indeed the medicine help bring back more of his old personality?

The chewing and change in behavior sound more like seizure activitiy, but call your doc, and check about the side effects on that one. The fever can either be caused by the seizures, or be a reason for them...he may have a bug.

We went to pediatricians; he does have viruses (Hand Foot Mouth). Just what we need! I definitely think he did have some seizure activity with the virus lowering his threshold.
