Hey everyone!! I just was'nt in the mood to do much of anything the past few days. If I missed replying to any replys to my previous threads, I apoligize. I did read the responses. Anyway, I started the methadone friday and so far it's releaving some of the pain. I'm on 10mg 3 times a day. Thanks to one of the other boarders explaining how it takes 5 days for it to reach it full strength, I know I have a few days to go before I know how well it's working for me. I'm having some of the side effects I've seen listed in the threads here and the information that came from the drug store. I'm more tired than usual and just did'nt feel up to doing much of anything. My stomach was somewhat upset but nothing that would make me want to quit taking it. Hopefully it will help more when it reaches full strength. The update on my wife is good news. I talk to her daily and went to visit her today. She is in brighter spirits and laughing more. She's on depacote for bi-polar disease. She has only one side effect so far. She has been having anixity attacks. I posted that on the bi-polar board, but if any of you know if this is a side effect of the drug, I welcome your responce. I hope you all are having a good day. thanks!!! TEXASCRITTER

Hey Tex...You mentioned you were having an upset stomach, which might be from the med. You're not taking Methadose, by chance, are you? I hope you are on Methadone, because Methadose has the side effect according to previous posters of upsetting their stomachs. I think this is due to the fillers they use. I just wanted to check.

I'm glad to hear the news about your wife. I hope she continues to show improvement.

Thanks for replying. It's defently methadone, 10mg three times a day. It almost has an effect like when I first started on my depression medication effexor. It's not a really bad upset stomach. Just enough to let you know something is going on. TEXASCRITTER

Thanks for replying. So far the methadone is working better than anything else I've taken before. It's so nice to have some pain relief finally after 9 months of pain. It's not even full strength yet. I'm kind of torn though. I'm like a zombie but not much pain. Good thing I don't have anything else to do or I'd be in real trouble. I'm just going to enjoy it while I can Thanks!!! TEXASCRITTER

Hi Texas: The slight side effects you're having should even out in a few days. I'm on 180 mg of Methadone per day (60 mg TID) and have almost no side effects, escept I get drowsy when doing nonstimulating things, such as reading or watching TV.

Do you know, is your doctor going to keep you at this dose, or will he be titrating you up on your dose? Most CP patients they start low and slowly increase the dose until they get to the optimium dose.

I have no idea what her plans are. If it was up to the doctors I'd be on nothing. I think she will do whatever is necessary to keep my pain level as low as possible. I agree with the drousy part. I have a hard time staying out of bed. There isn't alot I can do but sit here. No money and wife is in the mental hospital. I feel like a zombie. Thanks for replying.
