On Friday I had cryotherapy. For the past few days I have been having mild cramps and a clear discharge. Today there was a little pink/red mixed in with the discharge. Is this normal? It may be the start of my period (which is due in the next day to a week) but I'm worried if it's not! Please help!

Hi,
I had cryotherapy back in Dec 2005, and also had the clear, watery discharge and the cramping. Don't worry, it's normal. And if I remember correctly, I also had some very light bleeding and discolored discharge...I believe this is normal, as well...but I would recommend that you call your doctor just to make sure (especially if you're worried over it). I'm sure everything is just fine :) You'll be feeling great before you know it - promise!
Take care.

Thanks for responding to my question! As it turns out it was just my period :)

I'm having this done in a couple weeks.. didn't want to start another thread.. Is it BAD? I have a colposcopy last year and I fainted afterwards and was sick for probably 3 days. The gyno said I should have another one but because of the reaction I had to the first she recommended cyro instead. She said I would have less pain and less of a reaction. I'm really nervous though! I have a high pain tolerance everywhere but my cervix. Apparently my cervix is highly sensitive :( Everyone else I know who had the colposcopy had very little discomfort and was fine right afterwards. Me, I couldn't walk. It was bad!

Hi Batty,
I was also really nervous going into the cryotherapy because, like you, I didn't react so well to my previous biopsies. My doctor assured me, though, that this procedure would be far less painful...and it was (less painful). I would say that it just feels a little foreign and uncomfortable, but not painful. It's a strange sensation...but nothing to worry about or approach with anxiety (I know, easier said than done). It will probably be done in the same office that you had your colposcopy and biopsy in, and you'll be asked to lie down as you do with all gyn visits...your doc will just be using a different (not so scary) tool this time. I recommend that when you lie down, make a conscious effort to relax and calm yourself with some deep breathing. Imagery has been working well for me...just go to your happy place :)
The light cramping that you MIGHT experience afterward feels just like menstrual cramps...no worse. And don't let the watery discharge freak you out; you know the procedure is doing it's job if you experience this discharge - the abnormal cells are shedding from your cervix.
Good luck and don't hesitate to write me if you have questions or concerns :)
