I take my 2 month old dd to the ped tomorrow for shots:-( The doc told me last time that I could give her some infant tylenol before I get there, to help combat the fever and pain. Anyway, I bought the target store brand, and it doesn't give a dosage for a 2 month old. It says for a 2-3 yr old (24-35 lbs), give 1.6 ml/ which is 2 whole droppers. Under 24 lbs/2yrs, ask a doctor.

Anyone have any idea the dosage a 2 month old should get??

It is 10mg per kg of body weight. If our baby is say 16 lbs he would be around 8kg so you should give him 80mg of the tylenol. I hope this helps you out a little bit. ~ Goody:wave:

ok, I was good at math in school, but that was over 10 yrs ago.

What would 10 lbs end up being?? And this dropper is in mL, not in mg.

This is exactly what the outside of the box says.....

1 FL OZ (30 mL) 80 mg PER 0.8 mL

If you get 80mg per dropperful then by my calculations your baby should get 50mg which would be .5ml but if you gave him one dropperful .8ml or 80mg it would not be too much to harm him. It would be like giving him some extra strength tylenol.

When my dd got her shots last month, I gave her 0.4ml as per the pediatrician (which I think is half the dropper).

When I went in to get DS' first shots, I had given him tylenol in the waiting room. Which is what I had read somewhere on here. I got my butt chewed off by the LNP.. Apparently you are NOT supposed to give them the tylenol before hand because tylenol can take a fever away.. And if the baby is sick in anyway (even the tiniest fever) they cannot receive the vaccines... So today at his appt, they gave the tylenol 5 min before the shots were administered. Which is fine because the soreness takes an hour or so to kick in.

Amy, wow that LPN is crazy. My ped told me to give my ds tylenol an hour and a half before his shots to help with his pain. If they get a fever, it will probably come a while after the shots. Crazy people, I tell ya! LOL.

Lol Jess, I think you mistook what I meant.

The LNP said that babies who are ill, cannot/should not recieve the vaccines. And many times all you can tell if a child is ill, is by a fever. And if you give them tylenol beforehand, the fever can potentially go away. So there would be noway the Dr would know that the child is sick. So at my sons practice, they give the tylenol 5 to 10 minutes before the shots are given. That way, you aren't "hiding" the fact that the baby is sick, and shouldn't get his/her vaccines.

Maybe that made it a little less confusing? lol
