Howdy folks....have been away from the boards for a while and glad to be back. Quick question.....I had a colonoscopy in January with great results (1 very small polyp removed - non-cancerous). However, about once a week I pass semi-thin stools. My PCP tells me that what I eat has a lot to do with stool size and texture, etc and stool appearance "is not made for TV' (His words!!) :) Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.
Dave
PS: My diet remains very consistent and I am a creature of habit on what I eat......mostly the same assorted meals every week.

With a clear colonoscopy a year ago, I would not worry about it. Thin stool is caused by a variety of things like diet.

Dave,
Thin stools indicates that you are not eating enough soluble fiber in your diet-- but most people don't.
To bulk up your stools you can take a water soluble fiber like Metamucil-- it's a stool bulking natrual fiber therapy agent. And is safe to take daily.
I take psyllium 2X daily but I take the Wal Mart brand-- Equate brand

what about thin stool and blood in stool on occasion? would that automatically indicate colon cancer, as both are symptons of colon cancer.

I think any time there is rectal bleeding -- it should be checked out by a health care professional. Just to make sure it is not serious. Most blood is caused by hemorrhoids or a rectal fissure.
Thin stools are also caused by what you eat mostly too much insoluble fiber like fruits and veggies.
I think that to get an Colon Cancer diagnosis -- you need a professional exam including blood work.
Symptoms alone are just not enough evidence???
