I have been taking ambian cr for quite some time now. I found it is the only thing that enables me to sleep and now I don't wake up constantly in pain during the night. My question is for those of you that also use ambian, what is your mg ?? ... 12.5 or 6.25 ... I have been taking 12.5 which my sweet doctor has been nice enough to always give me his free samples because my co-pay is rather high for this however today he gave me a box of 12.5 and two boxes of 6.25 . I am just curious as to what mg the majority who take this take.

I take the 6.25mg, and like you I get the free samples from my psychiatrist.

Hi Queenee: I just recently (about two months ago) started taking Ambien CR and I take 12.5 mg. Before that I was on the 10 mg and I think I almost like it better. It's easier to wake up with, especially if your night wasn't a full eight/nine hours. Also, when flying overnight (on the redeye) I have broken the 10's in half and take five mg. I have both and my doctor recently gave me prescriptions for both so I can fill what I want. I asked if I could fill both so I would have the 10's and it was alright with him, but I'm not sure what the insurance company will say.

I'm not lucky enough like you to get samples of this med. The co-pay for the Ambien CR is $40, where the regular Ambien 10 mg is $25. I'm going to fill the CR and then later fill the regular Ambien and see if they'll go for it.

thanks for the info ...I have been taking the 12.5 but now I also have the 6.25 ....I guess I could also just take two of the 6.25 if need be.... yea my co-pay is also $40.00 for the cr 12.5...I just hope my doctor continues to get samples....amazing what we have to do for a 'good nights sleep' !!

Yeah - but sleep is so important!

We need it.

Your thread reminded me that I need to make an appointment with my psychiatrist to get more samples of Ambien CR. Thanks!

isn't it interesting they force us to go into an appointement which is more expensive to the insurance compaines then covering co pay of scripts???
We go in because we need to see the docs and because some of them have the samples that without the samples we could never afford

My doctor is the best !! today I stopped in his office and without an appointment he gladly gave me another months supply of ambien !! And I was also worried because this week I got a letter about jury duty. Normally I wouldn't mind because I've done it before and it is quite interresting however now I worried how I would ever sit through it ( part of my illness I can't sit long at all) Well my doctor without a problem wrote me an excuse for it. Sadly though it kinda hurts though to know I am 'unable' to perform that duty.... just another little kick down .

Hey Queene, that's great your Dr. gave you another month of Ambien. I'm hoping my Dr. will be as kind when I go to see him. He's given me a continual script for as long as I can remember and the samples whenever I ask. I only take the samples, because the $40 co-pay is super high. Especially when you have a $40 co-pay on Lyrica and Xanax XR (although Xanax XR just becamse available in generic so I think it will only be $30). Add in $10 for Tofranil and Donnatal, and that's $140 a month in meds! UGH!

Thanks for reminding me - I called the office today and have an appointment for next Friday.
