Not really sure what foods can turn your stool black but a lot of what you eat causes your stool to be it's color. Black stool is something to keep an eye on because that can mean blood (and usually means bleeding higer up in your gi tract). Also, blood in your stool will often cause the stool to be tarry. And blood also acts as a laxative and cause you to go frequently. I do know that peptobismol can turn your stool black (the company should list it on the label). Good luck!

I wanted to say a few more things. I mentioned peptobismol can turn your stool black and it's because it contanis bismuth subsalicylate. Also iron tablets can make the stool black, and eating lots of beets may turn the stool red. Some food colorings also can change the color of your stool. Eating foods with black or dark blue food coloring can turn your stool black.

I would suggest seeing a dr. Dark stool can mean something serious. I was told that dark stool can also indicate cancer or ulcer. I had an ulcer once long time ago and had this dark stool problem b4 i was diagnosed.

My advice, go to you dr. He/she will do a fecal test and some other tests. It's best to know what is going on. Good luck.
