View Full Version : something wrong...very worried.

For almost three years I've had terrible experiences with stomach pains. I get intense burning feelings in my abdomen, from just above my navel to my hip bones. I get a fever and start to sweat and I get severe diarrhea, which is the most prominent and painful symptom I've experienced. It makes it impossible to concentrate on the task i'm trying to complete.

I've been the the doctor about three times, and each time she has said that nothing is wrong, that it's just heartburn, but I'm not having typical heartburn symptoms. She hasn't done any tests at all. I'm fairly young and I'm starting to become worried now that it's happening four or five times a week.

Should I be concerned about this?

riot,
Pain in the mid abodmen w/burning, fever and diarrhea does not sound like heartburn to me.

I think you need to change Doctors and find someone that will listen to you. After seeing her 3-- times. I would say you gave her amore than fair chance!

I agree with Harry. Some doctors are total noninterventionists & unless they can SEE extreme prostration in the patient or some other observable sign, "everything's OK." Three years is a long time to suffer.

IMO if you got a referral to a gastroenterologist you might get on the road to testing, diagnosis, and healing.

Best wishes.

I've had similar symptoms but not near as often as you. Thank goodness. My doc also says it's heartburn and I know it's not. My mom, a nurse, thought it sounded like a problem with my gallbladder but when I look up info on that, there's a lot that doesn't sound like me. It is certain foods that seem to trigger it, like spicy, greasy, roasted, or acidic, and coffee. And it always happens during or immediately after a meal. It starts off as a stomach pain, but not in either side, just all over. Then my stomach goes crazy and I can hear and feel things moving around like nuts, I get beat red and sweaty, bloated and cramped BAD. I feel like I wanna vomit but I know it's not coming out that way. Once the explosive diarrhea kicks in, I'm good. It sounds so nasty, cuz I never thought I'd welcome firewater shooting out my rear :blob_fire but as soon as that's done I'm good as new... only I feel ten pounds lighter. It's all over within an hour- hour 1/2 of whatever triggers it. Once I explained all I go through and everything I'd found on gallbladder stuff to my mom she says, "Sounds like dumping syndrome". I'm like 'yeah, no kidding'. But she says it's a real disorder so I looked it up and sure enough it sounds just like what happens to me....except I've never had gastric bypass surgery which triggers it it most people and I don't think I have the other rare disorder that can cause it from tumors. I am very irish so she also mentioned celiac but I've never had a problem with those foods before. I'm a vegetarian and have always eaten lots of bread and pasta while others eat their meat. I dunno. Just trying to figure it out so it never happens again, cuz when it does I wanna curl up and die till it's over.:(
