View Full Version : Gallbladder is going, what can I eat?

I posted below, gallbladder or IBS? Well I am 99% positive it's gallbladder. The list of foods I can eat is getting smaller and smaller. I have a HIDA scan scheduled for the 27th (in 10 days), and I am going on vacation for 4 days on Monday.

What can I eat to not bring on any more attacks? Ideas on "travel" foods I can eat?

I know I am supposed to eat low/no fat, but sometimes certain hard to digest high fiber foods trigger pain, too.

Thanks!

Hello,
I ate rice, rice crispies. and baked chicken and baked potato. That was all I was able to eat and I got the fake butter to eat with the potato.
Good Luck!

yes... rice, rice krispies, melba toast, rice cakes, pretty much anything without fat or dairy. That's what I ate. I just had my gb out on Thursday. They say I have to eat low fat for 4 to 6 weeks and start off with a liquid diet, then I can pretty much eat whatever. I am still kind of scared that the pain is going to be there.. Good luck on your hida scan.

Stay away from greasy food or anything that would make your gallbladder produce alot of bile-- coffee makes your stomach think you have eaten a steak so it will cause your gallbladder to produce alot of bile.

Just think what your GB has to do before eating anything. Bile is primarily produced to help digest fats so anything that contains fat should be avoided.

Eat bland foods to give your body time to adjust. Fats cause your GB to produce bile so fatty foods should probably be avoided for awhile. Good luck and your body will let you know if you aren't eating right.
