Donnac1983 07-26-2006, 04:44 AM Hi all,
I am new here and just after a little advise. I went to see my consultant Gyn yesterday as I have been haing some symptons I was worried about.
Bleeding in between periods and after sex and a discharge. Also there is a lump "down in there" that seems to be blocking the way if you know what I mean?
My consultant did a quick internal exam yesterday and took some swabs but want me to book any urgent appointment for friday for a colposcoly under local. I am really worried as dont really know what all this means and I dont really know what he is looking for. He just said that my cervics was very red and inflamed and it did make me bleed quite bad after the exam (with clots) should I mention this on friday?
Do you think this could be cancer or am I worring a little too much. I have alo been dx with PCOS from the age of 16. Im now 22.
Many suggestions/veiws would be apprcitated :)

Michelle573 07-26-2006, 09:16 AM Did he give you any indication during the exam what he was speculating? He should've given you an idea as to what he was thinking.
Timber 07-26-2006, 10:30 AM Well, he's checking for cervical cancer or cervical dysplasia (precancer). A lump large enough to be "blocking the way" is certainly cause for concern, and so is the fact that your cervix is so irritated. You should follow through with any advised treatments as soon as possible.
Donnac1983 07-26-2006, 11:35 AM Thanks for your replies Timber and Michelle, So I do have reason to be concenered. I seem to be have a rough 2 years, october last year I had to have a lump removed from my left breast and then 6 months later (June this year) I had another 2 removed from my right breast. Thankfully both Benign but still very nerveracking:(
Now all of this!
Oh well I guess ill just have to wait for the test on friday and then the results. Im sure it will feel like forever, luckly I have privart Insurance so it all gets done a little quicker than the NHS. :)
Timber 07-26-2006, 03:19 PM Good luck. Keep us updated and ask any other questions you might have.

Michelle573 07-31-2006, 10:53 AM Good luck! I know how frustrating the waiting is!
Timber 07-31-2006, 03:46 PM Thank you for giving us an update. I am anxious to hear about your results and hope that all is well. Good luck.
Donnac1983 08-09-2006, 06:01 AM HI guys,
Sorry it has taken so long for me to get back to you about my results. Had my appointment on friday to have my results and they werent good. I have cervical cancer. There is a tumour there and my consultants has said that the only option avialble to me is a Hysterectomy. I am deverstated a hysterctomy @ 22 just seems wrong!
I went for a MIR yesterday that took an hour and I have an appointment tomorrow to get the results of that and to meet my second surgen, then an appointment on friday (my birthday can you believe it) to see my normal consultant to have a Q & A session.
Then will hopefully be booked in for my operation sometime next week. This just all seems to be moving so quickly. They have also said that I may need a course of Kemo??spelling after the operation.
Well thats my news, and comments would be aprciated.

Timber 08-09-2006, 09:55 AM Donna, I'm so sorry to hear that your results weren't good. You're right, having to have a hysterectomy at 22 isn't fair at all. But you do what you have to do to get healthy, ok?
The surgery will help them determine whether the cancer has spread. If it has, they will decide whether you need chemo or radiation therapy.
Best of luck.
Blondie1974 08-09-2006, 10:36 AM I'm so sorry to hear of your news.
Ask if when they do your hyst. if your ovaries should be moved out of the way just incase you need radiation so you don't have to deal with menopause as well. There is a great support group on the web for hysters.
Do a search about hysters and sisters. They can answer your questions and be very suppostive.
Best wishes on your journey.
Timber 08-09-2006, 11:05 AM Blondie has a good point. Be sure to bring up issues like that with your surgeon. Ask if it will be possible for them to save your ovaries, or even if there is time to freeze eggs (if you think you want to use a surrogate someday).
Donnac1983 08-10-2006, 08:33 AM thanks for all your kind words, I have started to make a list of questions for my surgeon. My new surgeon is a Mr Weeks who is suppose to be a top surgeon and im meeting with him tonight.
My normal consultant called me last night at home at 10.00pm to give me the results of the MIR and that has come back as all clear and it hasnt spread anywhere else. So I dont know where I stand about Chemo now so I have that as one of my questions. However I would like to freeze my eggs I believe you need to have 3 months of fertility treatment before they can do this so I dont think im going to get that option, but im going to ask the question.
Apparanty I will now have two operations the 1st being the removal of the cervices and the tumor and the Lyth nodes (spelling) which Me Weeks will do my key hole and pulling through rather than having to make a big cut. Then they will test the Lyth nodes and a week later have everything else removed.
Looks like this will all start sometime next week.
Well its my birthday tomorrow so im going to try and put all of this out of my mind and try and enjoy my day!
I will keep you all posted on any futher news, and thanks again for all your support and help at this time.
