Has anyone got any info on why smoking may be so effective in either relaxing intestinal muscle/inducing peristalsis? I think there's an acytol choline link. I'm not constipated nor in pain ONCE I go three times a day and I can't do so without the cigarettes (if I don't 'go' I regurgitate what I eat and can reach the point of nausea/watering eyes). I seem to produce a lot more faeces than the average person but it just sits very high up in my system and only smoking and being very relaxed on the toilet allows it to all 'fall out'. I have absolutely no rectal sensation of needing to go, only the heaviness of faeces 'locked' far too high in my colon/intestine. My whole story is pretty long but I'll expand on that in a second letter (I'm hoping someone can relate to this) and I may be able to write again. I'd pay a dr a million dollors for a strong nicotine tablet that moves the stuff out. I think I have little neurological/muscular intestinal function. Is there anyone with a similar problem?

Sorry I haven't experienced your situation, but I have a comment about the nicotine. If you'd rather not get it by smoking, I wonder if one of those nicotine chewing gums, used for smoking cessation, would do the trick? There are patches as well, but maybe you get more of a quick hit from the gum? Really out of my field here ... just wondering.

A lot of people rely on caffeine to get things moving. Have you given that a try?

Best wishes.
