In patients who are slow to heal, bone stim can help the bones to grow better (and therefore heal faster).

Hi babyboomer6,
A bone stimulator is used for fusion patients to help the bone fuse faster. I was told that by wearing the stimulator I shoud fuse in 6 months as opposed to a year if I did not wear it. Mine is about the size of a transistor radio. It runs on rechargable batteries. It has a set of two wires, one set plugs into the battery pak, the other set has little round, sticky, jel pads. You apply these to your skin near your incision. I was told to put one on each side of my scar. You can't feel that they are doing anything, but it is suposed to help with healing. Hope this helps.
