We have a wild life sanctuary here that I have taken Ava too. She LOVED it. The sounds the animals made, plus just being outside, made it so much fun for her. She was intently watching everything. I highly recommend it.

I thik the zoo would be good. We took DS to a little zoo at 10 months and he thought it was great. He liked the aquarium until he got ill in the stroller.
As for swimming, they are a little young, and it might be annoying for ya'll. A walk could be exciting if you went somewhere like a little row of shops or something, and really good exercise. I don't think I would go on a picnic though. I tried to take DS outside to eat at about 6 months and that was just a disaster!

I don't know if they do this in England, but in the states, a lot of movie theatres do a baby showing where the teatre is filled with little ones, but it's an adult movie, you could go see a flick and then grab a bite to eat.

How about dropping in on a baby yoga class together?

Do both of you feel comfortable juggling the two babies? If so you could do tag team pedicures. One mom sits in the chair with her little one while the other mom sits out. You could still sit right there to gab. If the baby gets cranky the one sitting out can take over the baby until mom #1 is done. And then switch. Plus just getting the pedicure, you won't have to worry about ruining your nails. A little pampering would be fun.

Flea markets, farmer's markets would be fun to stroll around.
