Why do i feel like i have too explain my mood swings to my mom i just got my dose moved from 2000mg to 2500mg and i am feeling a bit anxious and tonight i started talking to my mom and instead of getting support i got yelled at and told that she can't atke much more of this. Anyone have these situations & if so how do you work through them.

tms, I'm sure your mom loves you very much and just wants to know what's going on with you. Living with a person who has seiz. can be very stressful as the other person can't possibly understand what you're going through. It is also impossible for the other person to know how your meds. affect you and make you feel.

My husband and I deal with this all the time. Even tho he is very supportive of me it gets very hard on him to see me going thruogh what I do, and not know when I wake up in the A.M. if I'm going to be in a good mood or stressed out and grouchy. I have found that if we can sit down and talk about how I'm feeling, what my meds. are doing to me when I'm having a good day and we're both not stressed out it helps us both.

I don't know if what either your mom or you have in the way of an outside support system, but if you can get one that helps a lot. My hubby and I have seen a councelor to help us both deal with things. Sometimes it's easier to talk to someone not directly involved in the situation that can help you both put your feelings in perspective to each other.

It doesn't have to be a professioal councelor either. A trusted friend or relative that can be objective to both of you can help a lot.

I would suggest to start by sitting down with your mom when your both more relaxed and see how that goes.

I wish you the best of luck and hope things work out for you. Please try not to be angry with your mom. I know that may not be easy, but keep in mind she's stressed too. Laura

I just wanted to send a quick thank you i did indeed sit down with my mom and we talked about the situation and she realized that it was hard to hear from my doctor that i may not be able to drive again. I am still on my dosage of 2500mg and i did talk w/ my doc and he wants me to keep him updated but he said that it was my bodies way of reacting to a upgrade in my dosage. So again thank you.

tms, you are very welcome. I'm glad to know it helped you. Just keeping the lines of communication open helps alot.

It is very hard not being able to drive I can't either. I was a single mom for 12 years and very independant before I started having seiz. My husband has been my rock. Losing my independance was the hardest part of all. But having people that care is a big help.

Take care and I hope everything keeps going better with your mom.
