ok here is what i want everyone to know! i am 29 and i smoked for14 years. i have not smoked a cigarette in almost 3 years. but if you offer my one sometime ill sure put on to my lipseveryone stops smoking whether they admit it or not still has the desire. now is where you can have sympathy for me if you like. my dad is 49 years old (he was a baby when he had me ,19) we are buddies. he has smoked since he was 3 yes 3. he has great lungs! but he has also only 20% of his heart left and no tomorrow to look foward to. he has had 13 heart attachs and 2 strokes. and this past spring i packed myhusbands suit for a funeral. i live 2 hours away and was called and told that my father was having his 12 heart attach on the cath table. when i got there my mother (47 and very sick herself ) who is not a smoker was pumped full of zanex. her best friend of 29 years was dying. and my only sibling , my baby brother(hes20) was in boot camp in ok. they had to call him in and thank God he didnt go back soon because even though my father pulled thru he still wasnt out of the red. well he thought he was in good shape after 3 days and he walked out of ICU and to a regular room were he took a shower and care of himself just the way he likes it. and guess what im called again and this time my whole entire family came in. he has 14brothers and sisters. they where coming to say goodbye. our paster came and my daddy said he was tired and ready to go home to be with his savior Jesus. he was hooked up to a pump and a fibilator and he was within moments of death. but prayers went up all over the country and GOD gave his mercy and let my father live. he is home once again taking care of his gardens mowing his lawn going to auctions and flea markets (they are his hobbies) and guess what else....after only 1 month of no smoking....he is smoking again SMOKING AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!! PEOPLE IT IS KILLING OUR FAMILIES,US OUR FRIENDS!!!! AND NO JOKE BY THE WAY CAN I HAVE A CIGARETTE ???!!! IM ADDICTED AND YES ILL TAKE YOUR SMOKE BUT IT WILL ONLY GO TO MY LIPS AND THERE ILL THINK ABOUT HOW SELFESH I AM TO MY CHILDREN AND HUSBAND.thank you for your time

So glad your dad pulled through...that's quite amazing, ....so many heart attacks. He must be a strong guy...but he can only pull through so many times, and one day his body won't be able to fight back again. So sorry he went back to the devil weed..after a good month of not smoking. So sad...but goes to show how addictive this addiction/disease is. They say it's harder to break than a cocaine addiction....can you imagine? I believe it...it took me 28 years to quit...numerous attempts and sucess and failures.

One thing I will disagree with you on...I don't agree that everyone who quits, still craves. Maybe some...and oh yeah, I did still grave for about 18 months, maybe a bit longer, but today, at almost 3 years quit, I no longer crave them at all, whatsoever. Could be that 3 of my family members have died of a lung disease....I'm scared to even think about smoking again. To prove this,...my daddy just passed away 2 months ago. We were best buddies too...as close as can be...and I haven't even thought for one second about smoking. 10 years ago, that would've made me go straight to the nearest convienience store...leaving skid marks on the way.

Just keep on praying for him girlfriend. Was that the only time he ever quit, or had he quit before? Hope he can give it up, soon. :angel:

thanks for the reply and yes that is the first time. all of my family are farmers and a good percent of them are tobacco farmers and that is how they have always made their living. it put food on our table and clothes on our backs. the funny thing is that my dads heart surgeon and his family are the biggest tobacco farmers in Tn and has the gall to tell my dad to stop smoking. my dad told him once that he'd stop smoking it when he stopped growing it. anyway i have had 1 uncle to dye from heart attaches and 1 to dye from lung cancer and and aunt to dye from lung cancer all who were my dads siblings. my mother isnt and never has been a smoker but my baby brother does and he works out and is so fit i just wish he'd stop smoking. he says he has cut back now that he is in the military. anyway thanks again:angel: :wave: on a funnier note before i go i had an uncle who had lung cancer to say that after surgery once he saw the devil come into his room with a cigarette so big that he had to hold it with both hands and offered it to him!!!:blob_fire

Hey girl....

That's FUNNY!!! Makes me wonder if it REALLY happened, though!!! LOL (would NOT surprise me!!) heh heh.....that stupid old devil!!

Try this to quit... :angel: a guardian angel. Keep working on your dad and brother. You're a sweetheart of a sister (and daughter), to be so concerned about their smoking. Keep talking to them, and praying for them..most of all.

thank you dede i recieved your comment earlier and you're right prayer does change things that is why i dont smoke anymore nor does my husband. he hasnt smoked in almost 4 years. thanks be to GOD !!:) :angel: :wave: bye for now

My dad has emphysema so bad and his lungs are so messed up, they look like used charcoal briquettes, he is on oxygen, yet he still smokes. He has no other health problems, high blood pressure, but no h/a's or strokes due to smoking. It's crazy what the human body can tolerate.
