I am wondering if any of you have seizures daily? Tripp has at least one everyday and always when he lies down for an afternoon nap. Just as he is falling into a deep sleep he will turn his head left for 2 to 7 seconds(no longer), eyes turned far into the left side make a snoring sound and then wake up....fall back asleep and sometime it will happen again as many as 3 times before he gets into a really deep sleep. I do not know if he does this at night. About 95% of his seziures are like this. I have noticed some when we are in church when the preacher is preaching(I guess he gets bored.LOL) SO far NO meds are working....I am praying the increase in the keppra will help.

His case seems to be a parallel to my friend. What appears to be seizures strike when starting to sleep and awakening, but don't occur in deep sleep or during the day (unless he zones out, then one may strike).
Is there any problem with the (can't think of human anatomy, and don't have Grays book to look it up) flap of skin on the top of the throat that can cause breathing problems during sleep (snoring?), and look like seizures (the body panicks when the airway is blocked) but no neurological signals indicate seizures when the patients has EEG's hooked up.
One solution sometimes used with the throat issue is a posi-pressure mask the person wears when sleeping to prevent the flap of tissue from blocking the passage to the lungs.
That is a non-seizure related tidbit that I know two people who use the device; one of which is an epileptic.
As for the friend who has the dozing off seizures... They came better controlled after a lot of med adjustments and trials, so he doesn't have seizures when he's awake, but not to the point where they can control the dozing off ones. So are those "doze offs" truely epileptic seizures? I don't know...

Travis,
They look like seizure that he has when he is awake...so pretty sure they are seizures. I don't think he has that "problem with the throat thing".
How many times are we to change meds?? There are a LOT and LOT of combo of meds.
Wed night I fogot his night meds....OOPS!! He had a cps last night that ALMOST turned into a grandmal...his eyes were blinking rapidly and head jurking but I keep saying his name and "tapping" his face and he came out of it!! WEIRD! HUH??? He was fine.
The neruo upped his Keppra by 500 mg a day but I did not up it but by 250mg at AM and will contiue this for a week...if still seizuring I will then up 250mg at night.... I don't want to up it fast. Sometimes we just have to take control. LOL

The head turn IS the seizure....this is what he does....He turns his head to the left and his eyes roll to to left...he stays like that for 2 to 7 seconds and then it's over. He then goes back to sleep and sleeps fine. He does the same thing when he is NOT asleep so I don't think it is a problem with sleep. He does not snore. He has had his tonsils and adnoise removed when he was 3 years old.
Thanks for your imput.
