I used to take my dilantin all in the morning, but about four years ago the doctor switched and I take all at night before bedtime.

My seizures did not have a consistent pattern...but the majority occurred in the afternoon to early evening. Whenever I am under stress AND especially not getting enough sleep, a seizure is around the corner. I have to monitor my stress level and sleep patterns all the time. I often increase dilantin by 100mg a day for a few days when I am extremely over tired. I would not recommend this without talking with your doctor.

Hope this helps!

my tc seizures are all mostly in the afternoon to evening. i sometimes get them in the am but that is only if im running/working out (that seems to be a big trigger for me, i dont know why...another big trigger for me is sleep deprevation).

i used to take my meds twice a day but now that im on zonegran its only at night. and then i take lexapro in the am to reduce my stress and hopefully reduce the # of seizures.

as far as how often i have the gran mals, mine have been pretty often this summer. i went from two times a wk for about two monthes and now its down to once every two wks. almost all of them have come as a result of working out. but every so often they are random w/ no known trigger.
