A bit of history...I had a problem with chronic belching so was put on zantac - this took away the belching but gave me stomach pains (burning sensation). I was then put on prilosec which I have been taking for a few months. Then about 6 weeks ago went off it as I was warned against taking it long term. A few weeks later I started getting stomach pains (burning sensation) again so I started taking zantac (which my doctor suggested would be better for me that prilosec). However the zantac worsened the stomach pains. I then went back on the prilosec and this helped for a couple of weeks but now the stomach pains are back.
Just wondering if anyone else has the problem that the medication was making them feel worse?? Any suggestions??
Thanks!

I have been on three different medications over the pass 6 weeks and all of them made me feel worse than I did before I started taking them. I just stopped taking them even though I am still in pain. I can tolerate the pain that I have now but three days after taking the medications I felt twn times worse. I say you should go back to the doctor and tell him/her what is going on with you

Remember those medications are to treat symptoms only. They don't treat the cause of the problems and Drs. are beginning to think more about that. Go see your Drs. and see what the cause is. If the medications do not help with the symptoms and do not treat the cause they are worthless to you. There is a cause for all these problems we have and that needs to be determined instead of throwing one medicine after another at it and hiding it.

The doc said it was GERD. But I don't really have any classical symptoms so I'm wondering if its something else, even though the Prilosec does seem to do some good. Its good to know there are other people out there with the same problems.
Thanks!

Could be gallbladder. My symptoms all screamed GERD but then I developed the pain on the right as a late symptom. It's possible the medications aren't treating the problem.
