What words are your 1 years olds saying besides mama and dada? My son
just turned one and isn't saying much else yet. Our doctor said he's fine but
I was just wondering what your babies are saying at this age.
Thanks - Lynn

I'm not sure what the normal vocabulary is but my DD at that age was saying things like : mama, daddy, no, ouch, uh oh, pat-a-cake, night night, love you...and so on she was also counting to five on her fingers (ofcourse she didnt count every finger right lol) but i had nothing but time to spend with her at the time to work with her alot on it too.

Ty just turned 1 on the 11th. He says mama, dada, dog, baby, night night, bye bye, hot, oh no. I think that is all.

Thanks for the replys especially ChappyBoy. My sons is 1 yr. 3 weeks. It's
so hard when you think your child is behind. My doctor said all babies develope at their own rate and its nothing to worry about but it would still make me feel better if he were saying more. Oh well, he's happy and healthy that's more important. Lynn

My son is almost 13 months and only says UH OH and ball. He started walking at 10 months and completly stopped talking until now so I think he was mastering one skill and now he is working on talking.

MIL was reading a thing to me earlier that 1year olds should have 6 words and 18 mths should have 10-20. DS can say 44 words, at 14 months, but I am home to work with him constantly, and I could make sentences when I was a year old. I think it helps that he spends alot of time around adults. He can say things like, off, on, open, apple, brrom, book, doggie, bye, hi, names of people, night night, light, that, want, eat, bite, chicken, duck, buttone, for some reason back pack and Oprah, which is just really weird, because we never watch oprah, but he just piped up one day and started saying Oprah and pointing at the Tv. Some of the words he knows what they mean all the time, and sometimes just some of hte time.
He can count to two, sometimes, I think that is just a fluke though.
But every baby develops differently, DH didn't talk harldy at all until he was two, and now he never shuts up, lol.

They do all develop differently...DD was saying at least 15 words by her 1st birthday and she was always trying to copy what you'd say. Kaden is turning 1 in a couple weeks and all we've figured out he says is Hi, Mom, Momma, Dad, Dadda, and Awwwww (when he hugs anyone)... but Kaden started crawling and walking earlier than Kierra did, so maybe his motor skills have been delaying his verbal skills. I am anxious for him to start yabbering away though...some of the things they come up with. LOL
