What exactly is your haircare routine? Do you use irons or hot rollers? What about styling products? How often do you wash your hair?

It would be helpful to know what you already do....easier to add to it or suggest changes.

hello thanks for offering some help, i have very oily skin so find that i have to wash my hair daily, i dont really use heated appliances that often as i find it realy annoying trying to style it as it seems out of control, but i do tend to use a hairdryer once or maybe twice a week. and thats all i do.
i had a baby 6 weeks ago so i did expect some news hairs to be growing through but my hair sticks up all over because of split ends.
thank you very much for your time
marlene

p.s i use a wella heat protection spray when i blow dry

Hi Marlene....what shampoo and conditioner do you use?

Washing your hair daily is good, and you will be losing more hair probably over the next few months.

Marlene my mom used to be a beautician for many years and the one thing she taught me was you need to dilute your Shampoo and conditioners by a 1/4 to almost 1/2 when you shampoo daily as this is way too drying to your scalp, the other thing to remember here is by daily shampooing the scalp line will emit more oils leaving you looking like you havent washed your hair. Keep the scalp line clean by washing the forehead area with a mild soap followed by a toner and see if this helps a little. If you plan to dilute start at a 1/4 dilution first and work your way to the 1/2. Also every other month cut 1/2 inch off the bottom ends till all split ends are gone and when brushing your hair start from the bottom ends and work your way up to your scalp.
And Please do not use Mayonaise to mosturize hair... That is the worst thing you can do to your hair it contains ingredients that strip your hair of natural oils. Try V05 hot oil treatments if your feelin a need to moisturize at all and one note on that do not apply to the scalp area only the hair and the ends.
As for the fructis it is too strong and has too much perfume in it which also leads to dry hair and scalp. Anything with a strong perfume smell...not good.
Hope this helps :)

I have oily scalp too and 'had' very bad split ends. I'll tell you what worked for me. I had to do this because of a horrible layered cut I got. It took forever for the layers to grow out, and as they did, they split. I thought my hair would never be long again. I probably could've made two car payments on all the money I spent at the salon trying to get my hair back in good condition. LOL

This turned out to be way less expensive, and worked:

Use whatever shampoo you like. You can even use your dandruff shampoo every day if you want.
Shampoo daily but concentrate the shampoo on the scalp only
Avoid the ends as best you can but don't worry if some shampoo gets on them
Use conditioner on the ends only
When your hair is almost dry, put a tiny bit more conditioner on the tips. Don't rinse.
Never rub your hair with the towel to dry it. Just blot.
Keep trimming the split ends. In time, because of the extra gentle treatment, and extra conditioner to protect the ends, you won't need to trim them very often. I had to trim mine every few weeks at first. The split ends were real bad. Now it looks like I just got a trim but it's actually been almost 2 months! I think the extra conditioner on the ends is what really made the difference. I still do it even though I don't have split ends anymore.

I don't know if any of this will work for you but I hope some of it helps. :)
