I would like to know if anyone has found a medication that lowers cholesterol without wrecking havoc on your digestive system. I tried Red Yeast Rice. Having been successful with it years back, and because I need to start a medication again, I tried this product again. However due to severe digestive problems occuring last nite, I see I can't take this again. Don't want the statins - but if necessary I'll have to try. Can anyone suggest some form of cholesterol lowering medication that doesn't upset the digestive track. Thanks.

I have used various statin meds for about 9 years. The only one that ever cause any digestive issues was Lescol-an old statin. You could try one of the weaker statins at a low does and see how that works for you. I think one of themajor problems with statins is that they are prescribed at too high of a dose. 20mg seems to be the "starting point" and that may simply be too high to start with for SOME people.
