Hi, I'm not sure where to start, but I'll try. In 1994 I had deep pain my abdomen which lasted around 6-9 months. I had an MRI scan and ultrasound, but all was clear.I became depressed during this period, but when the pain went, I came out of my depression.
In June 2003 I had a slight pain just to the left of my navel. It was pain level 3 out of 10. It was a deep pain similar to 1994 instance. But this pain is now on 8 out of 10, and three years on I still have no diagnosis. Over the last 3 years I have had a CT scan, ultrasound, a virtual colonstrophy, a PET scan,
a laparoscopy,an endoscopy, various blood tests, and all have come back clear, except for a mild hiatis hernia and bile returning to the stomach. I had an umbilical hernia fixed in October 2005, which I hoped may have been the cause of the pain, but unfortunately it was not. I attended a pain clinic throughout 2005, had various manipulation, but still no positive result.
I have tried various medication as advised my doctor, but to no avail. I am currently taking Tramodal pain killer, two every 4 hours. this takes the edge off the pain but the feeling is still there. I have been on high blood pressure tablets since April 1999.
I had suffered a very stressful period prior to the onset of the pain in 2003.
My mother passed away in Nov2001 and my father in Nov2002. I had taken early retirement from my company in may 2000, but did return from Nov 2000 until Jan 2002, on a special contract, which was exceptionally stressful.
In March2002 , I did have a minor breakdown.
The pain has increased since 2003, should I still be concerned after so many tests. My life is in limbo, as I cannot plan for the future whilst I have this debilitating pain. I don't know where to go now. Most of your messages on pain have a diagnosis and can be treated. I find my case difficult as without a diagnosis how can the doctor treat me correctly. sorry to have rambled on a bit with my first entry. But I wonder if anyone has similar undiagnosed pain.

Welcome to the board. I have neck problems and after various test they still don't know what is causing my pain. The best advise I can give is keep searching and change doctors if necessary. Someone will find the cause if you keep searching. Other members I'm sure have gone thru this at one time or another before finding out what their problem was. Others will come along over time and tell you their experiences. I hope you get better. We at this board care about you and are here for any question you may have. Again welcome to the board. Hi Sonnyuk:wave:

I'm sorry you are having health problems. Although I didn't have the problems you described, it took 10 years for a doctor to tell me what my problem was. I have pain in my hips and the back of my right leg. I couldn't sit flat but nobody knew what it was. I kept pushing for answers and would tell anybody who would listen about my pain. I've changed doctors many times. When I was at my wits end, I told my psychologist that I would have to find a way to live with it and she suggested an orthopedic surgeon. What do you know, the ortho had the answer. He sent me for an MRI and told me my back was jacked. After 10 years of constant pain, I had a diagnosis and I was so relieved. It never dawned on me that it was my back because the pain was never in my back, only my hips and the back of my right leg.

I know it's hard to be in pain, not knowing what's causing the pain and not knowing what to do. Keep pushing. You're going to insult somebody along the way, so what. It's your health. Once you get a diagnosis, then you'll know what to do. I hope I didn't bore you, but stay on the Boards. I've learned over the last three years that you'll learn more from here than what you'll learn from your doc.

Take care and keep posting,
Rosa:wave:

Thanks for your messages and support its good to speak to people who have been through similar circumstances. Since I posted my last message, my joints have become painful, knee/elbow/figures/hips, not sure if this has any relevance, as I have been laying floor tiles recently. But as in Rosa's condition, my abdomen pain may be referred from another part of the body.
keep in touch .

Hi,
I just read your post and I can tell you that I also had severe pain in my abdomen the traveled also across my chest. I do have severe RA but that was not the culprit, it actually was a herinated disk that was causing pressure and pain in my abdomen. If you can try and see a spine Doctor, it may or may not be the problem but it is a suggestion that might be your answer. Being in pain is a PAIN!! and this board is a wonderful support system
I haven't posted in a while but I also read everyone's posts. Good luck and don't stop trying to get your diagnosis, it's your life and we all should be intitaled to live it with quailty and dignity.
Debbie
