im in the same boat as you except i have been diagnosed with pcos but i also get one large cyst that keeps coming back on my left ovary it bursts goes away then comes back a few months later i have been trying to maintain my weight since my late teens but all i ever do is put more weight on ive tried all the diets inc slimming clubs , meal replacements , fad diets , slimming pills herbal and prescribed and nothing really works i manage to lose a stone or two then i stop losing weight no matter how much effort i put in i exercise daily and i always have done i get fed up with doctors who think i sit at home all day eating cream cakes i most certainly do not in fact i cant remember the last time i had one im sure it was as a child , im hyperactive i cant stand not having anything to do and get bored easily . i am now the heaviest i have ever been and cant shift the weight i eat healthily and two weeks ago completely cut out carbs i lost 4 lbs in the first week and nothing this week in fact i put on 1 lb so in two weeks lost 3 lb . my consultant told me to go away and lose five stone in feb so far lost 1 1/2 stone i have till january to lose the other 3 1/2 if i dont consultant will discharge me and i will have to go back on waiting list for fertility treatment i already waited 1 year for last appointment

i know that feeling.my consultant has said the same to me lose weight it will help.but its not that easy.
im not able to have fertility treatment on the n.h.s. as i already have a daughter of the age 8.
so i am really confused.i dnt have periods,i dont ovulate.but they cant tell me why. all i know is i have a large cycst which they drain then it comes back again.
i know i am very lucky to have my daughter but i have just got married to my new partner,he loves my daughter loads but deep down i think he would love to have a baby.i have got an consultants appointment on thursday ive cancelled this appointment twice already as i dont feel comfotable and i dont feel im getting anywhere.i think my consultant thinks he is GOD.the way he is with me and my husband.

they have refused ivf but i can have clomid once i lose the five stone my partner and i have been trying for years but still dont have any children were foster parents though and love our foster kids dearly but there not ours nor can we treat them as our own as they are regulated by social services and its the authorities that make all the decisions on their welfare dont put off the appointment go and ask for help losing weight and prove all the consultants wrong but its easy for me to say i do know how you feel though try not to stress as that will make things worse.

ive tried xenical which is a weight loss drug but it didnt work for me your consultant can refer you to a dietician which can be helpful if its support you need however the advice hasnt worked for me either it depends whether you have good doc i would say talk to someone your comfortable with you could also try metformin which is a diabetic drug but some people with pcos find it helps them lose weight my doctor refused to prescribe it for me so im waiting for an appointment with a new doc
