I have been shaving for serveral years however over the last year I have noticed hair growth on cheeks – its fine hair but as im asian and very fair it is easily noticable. The hair is growing out of range of the normal shaving line. I was contemplating using hair removal creams as I find it really irritating when I look in the mirror to see find hairs growing in this area.
It also appears that my shaving line is coming closer up my cheek as I seem to be shaving further in each time. Can anybody help.

I knew a guy who had that too (he was also asian...maybe it's an asian thing...?). The only reason why I saw it was because I was kissing him, so I was really close to his face. It didn't look weird, just so you know. Sometimes we think that people can see things on our faces that really they can't see or they don't notice, or don't find weird looking.
I can't help much with a removal idea except the usual (waxing-after a while it will probably become less and less, laser removal--expensive, or depilatory creams like Nair), so I hope others comment as well. I just wanted to say that you probably don't need to worry about it.

would it be wise to use hair removal creams around the cheek and face area.
would the hair grow back thicker once used.

Hair will not grow back thicker after using a hair removal cream.

Just shave that area as well.....don't use any removal creams around the eye areas...even on the cheek area.
It could be that as you are maturing, hormones are changing and that might be your beard line....
Are you opposed to shaving there? Is it you don't want to shave there as often?
We all have hair allll over our faces, even females. Some are more noticable than others, and depending on genetics and hormones, it will grow in different areas more visibly.

hott_rod, The reason most men with beards do not have hair growing up high on their cheek is because they keep that area shaved. Its only natural for it to grow there.

I am against shaving this area as the beardline will look much thicker and the hair will also grow back thicker. Would laser be advisable if i wanted a more long term solution.

Shaving will not make it thicker. Your body maturing will make it thicker regardless of what you do. Laser or electrolysis for permanently removing/reducing the hair.

i was under the impression that shaving any area where you have fine/coarse hair will always make it grow back thicker and faster if you were to shave that area??

Old wives tale. Dr. Mildred Trotter proved in the 1920's that shaving has no effect on hair. Hair grows naturally with a tapered end. When you cut off that end, be it by scissor or a razor, you cut off the fine tip of that end and you are left with a blunt hair. Once the hair goes through it's shedding process, the next hair will once again have that soft tapered tip until it's shaved or cut again. What you do above the skin's surface does not effect the structure of the hair. The root has no idea the hair has been shaved.

i find it hard to believe that shaving an area of the face will not make the hair grow back thicker. If this theory is correct, how do you explain normal shaving and the beard line?

Boys don't shave and then hair grows. Hair grows and then boys shave.
Facial hair grows due to androgen production. It starts in puberty. New hair on men develop frequently until age 35-40.
Many men with thinning hair now shave their full head. Have you heard anyone say it made their hair thicker?

hot rod......think about what Choice is saying .... it was explained very clearly. Compare it to grass growing...same thing. Unless one seeds it and it sprouts new grass, it doesn't change.
You're young, your hormones will change as you mature.....your hair growth is preprogrammed since birth. Nothing you will do will change that.
Waxing pulls the hair from the roots....so, when new hair grows, the end will be tapered, not blunt as from cutting straight across. The hair looks finer because it is at the tip. New hair never grows blunt.
It will "look" thicker, but however thick your own hair is, will be the thickness it will grow out of your skin.
