I have been on aciphex twice a day for LPR for months and continue to feel better all the time. 5 days ago I had to start an antibiotic (macrobid) and my reflux is back in full force. Has this happened to anyone else? Thanks, Lori

I'm taking Protonix and had to take 10 days of Pencillin. My stomach was ok but then a few days later it started hurting some so I figured if was from the antibiotics.

It seems many people have their first bouts of GERD/LPR after taking antibotics. With me I was very sick with a bad cold/virus and was put on antibotics which triggered my first episodes of LPR (symptom relentless coughing). Coincidence - probably not. Antibotics kill off the good and the bad things in your system. A year and a half later I'm still trying to get back to normal.

Antibiotics are bad for any type of acid reflux. I found out the hard way.
You can do a drug interaction search to check out what you are taking.

my doctor had me stagger the pills. make sure your not taking them the same time. also he had me take a little mylanta when taking the antiboitics. it helped some but as others have said its just a rough combo.

Thanks everyone. This really threw me for a loop as I have been feeling so much better and was starting to be able to eat more and more foods. I guess its back to the baked potatoes and chicken again - LOL I'll be much more leary to take antibiotics again. Lori
