Yes, I experience crying during seizures. Crying seizures are known as dacrystic seizures. However, I think that the reference many people make to "crying out" before or during a seizure means something different.

The 'crying out' before a grand mal is the sudden expulsion of air from the lungs prior to the tonic clonic phase- some have it, others don't...but it's not unusual.
Prior to seizures, co-workers would notice that my mood became more negative and sensitive.....cried a couple of times, but was also changing meds then....made me a blithering idiot. I'd cry at anything.

I have experieced crying just a few minutes before a seiz. without reason a couple of times, and have appearantly cried during a seiz. or at the end of one before I'm aware of anything. I don't know how many times this has happenedbut my husband has commented a few times that I was crying during the seiz.

I noticed this past weekend that my 15 month old started crying uncontrollably for no apparent reason and then had a seizure about an hour later....I wonder if the two were related???

Maureen,
Hi my name is Krista. I used to have seizures until Jan 5 of this year I had a left temporal lobe ectomy. I had the exact type of seizures you just described. I have such an awesome neurologist and he actually explained to me why you cry during a seizure! The reason is, is because your seizures are coming from the left temporal lobe which is the part of the brain that controls your emotions. Some people cry and others will laugh during a seizure. The same day I had my surgery another lady with the exact same scar on her left temporal would laugh instead of crying I was told by my neurologist. That is why you cry;)

Mine originated in the Left Hemisphear near the Speach and Fine Motor region (benign tumor that was removed in 81). I have not experienced those symptoms, most likely it was a different region of the brain in my case.
My notation was a possibility of medication a person may be on (the commonly mentioned "K" drug) a lot of us have had different symptoms with as well as similar symptoms.
