ok i was just reading a magazine and it was listing the pros and cons of both cloth and disposable nappies/diapers/ it said in the cons for disposables:

"we just don't know if they are safe. it's inevitable that some of the chemicals are going to be absorbed by your baby's body. some experts worry that they may raise the temperature of a boys testicles, which could impact on fertility. until a generation of disposable wearers have reproduced we won't know."

ok so this sounds a bit scary but i ever heard it before. does anyone know anything about this? how long have disposables been available i know there were only cloth diapers when i was a baby so i just wondered? anyone with any info on this issue of fertility tia

I haven't heard of this, I'm sure disposables have been around for at LEAST 20 years. Until I hear results from an independant study, I'm happy to use them. I guess the key is to allow for "no nappy time" whether wearing cloth or disposables.

That's scary. But I can tell you I am 20 and only wore disposable's when I was a baby and have absolutely no fertility issues. My husband is also 20 and wore disposables when he was a baby. We've made two kids, so I would think it's had no effect on fertility. Hope that eases your mind to the prospect of grand children. I wouldn't worry.

Hey All! I did a little research and I found out that the disposable diaper was introduced in 1961. Not many people used them then (1%), but that increased every year, until about 1990 when 90% were using them. I think this is for the US. Just FYI:)
