I have read that babies usually roll from their tummy to their backs when they first roll or begin to. My daughter rolls from her back to her tummy and I was just curious how common this way is. I am not surprised because she doesn't care for tummy time at all and she would rather be on her back or side, or even better sitting up or standing. (not on her own...:) she is only going on 4 months.

hi orange!
Jenae will be four months next week. she learned how to roll from her back to tummy first. she only just figured out at the beginning of this month to roll from tummy to back, but she doesn't do it all the time, so then she will yell to be picked up!lol! like pp's ds she likes to sometimes do a continuous roll! lol!

My daughter rolls from her back to her tummy...

...she doesn't care for tummy time at all and she would rather be on her back or side...

This is my DD exactly she rolled from back to tummy at 3 months and she wasn't able to roll from tummy to back until she was 5 months (she's 6 months old now). Her ped. told me that the literature that says babies should roll tummy to back first was written when it was recommended that babies always be layed down on their tummies. Now that it is being recommended that babies be put down on their backs, more babies seem to be rolling from back to tummy first.

My DD used to hate tummy time, but we would just do more and more of it each day and now she will almost always flip onto her tummy to play! Unfortunately now she flips herself to her tummy while she's sleeping. Her ped says once they discover they can sleep this way on their own, there is no way to stop it!!! Yikes!
