I swear, Im just continuing to get worse!! You see I started prilosec a few years ago for GERD. A few months later I started getting stomach cramps and really bad burning pain in my stomach-it was terrible!

That was 7 years ago and to this day I still get those symptoms. All my tests have been normal except for gastritis. Yes, gastritis WHILE on a PPI! How did that happen??

Id like to know if anyone else here feels they are worse on acid blockers as well. Im weaning off of them now.

I am one.
I am off them now and just using Gaviscon for my sore irritated throat, which helps.
I felt worse on PPIs and feel slightly better since going off them --its a hard call though cuz this is a terrible thing to live with.

I have tried several of the PPIs and had so many bad side effects that I had to stop them and go back to Zantac. I just wonder if I am getting too much acid in my mouth and throat because the Zantac is not strong enough.

yes I think the ppi is not good for me, I started taking nexium for just heartburn at that time that was all that I had, and it stop the heartburn as long as I would take it, but just two or three days off of it and I would had heratburn again, so I just take it and in about six months or so I started to had the terrible stomach pain, and I would go to the doctor and he would say are you still taking the nexium and I would say yes because I was, so he put me on two a day , and I still have the stomach pain, so he told me that I would have to take the endoscopy and colonoscopy to see what it was, I did not want to take it but all of my symptoms got so bad that I just had to do something, so I went this past May 4th and had them, the colonoscopy was normal, and the endoscopy showed that I had mild gastritis at the distal stomach.
The pain that I was having was like pancreatits pain on my left side and go up in to my back and I swear that was the worse pain that I could have, I would take the heartburn any day besize that, so the doctor told me to stop taking the mexium , and that was the best thing that I had done in three years, In three weeks of stop the mexium I have not have a pain in my stomach , and a lot of side affects that I was having has stop,
The last time that I went to the doctor was the day that he told me about the endoscopy test , he did not give me one thing for the gastritis ,
so I ask him to put me on something besize mexium for my heartburn and he put me on protonix, and I have been on it for two months, it stop the heartburn to, but I am going to stop it to, because since I have been taking it my legs and arms have a tingling feeling something, and I have bad dreams,
I think the ppi that we are taking for acid reflux , is the worse thing that we can do.
the doctor told me to come back in four months, but I may just not go because all he will do is tell me to take the protonix.
I hope that I have said something that will help you. I had so much side affects and I pay 140.00 dollars a months for them.
and just two or three days with out it I have the heartburn.

I had to break down and increase my prilosec today. It kinda helped with the burning pain, but not a whole lot. I hate the burning pain and just want it to go away!!
