Well, let's see. Where do I start? DD had her first ear infection the first week of this month and I had to take her back on Thursday because she was running fever and swatting at her ear again. My ped was out of town so we had to see a different one. She also sounded very phlegmy in her breathing. I told the doc I had 2 different types of decongestants at the house for her from previous visits(one mainly for allergies). She said oh no not to use them because they would affect the ears. Well, Sunday we woke up and she was wheezing. It sounded horrible. I called the nurse and she said to take her in. Sure enough, they took chest x-rays and her right lung was cloudy and she has bronchitis. Now don't you think if she was taking the decon. the mucous wouldn't have settled in her chest? She had to have a sterroid shot, a breathing treatment there, she has to take orapred(which is a sterroid) once a day for 5 days, and they gave us a nebulizer and she has to take a breathing treatment with albuterol every 3-4 hours. She is miserable. Have any of you ever had to give breathing treatments? She hates them and they make her all jittery and very fussy. Is there anything anyone knows to do to make it a little easier an them? She's almost 10 months old if that helps anything. Thanks for any advice. As all of you know - if baby is miserable, so is mom.
