I'm sorry if this is gross, but need some info. I have had occasional blood in and on my stool and yellowish soft stools off and on for a few years, and also either go every day at least once or I might go a couple days without going at all. I went to the doc a couple years ago and he did a rectal exam and told me the blood was from an internal hemmeroid. I also suffer from anxiety and panic attacks and it seems when it's soft and yellow I am going thru a stressful/anxious time. I took Lexapro for 8 days but quit taking it becuz of side effects, one which is stomach issues, nausea and D. I have been off of it for 6 days and I'm still having soft yellow stools with blood some of the time. I might have left some symptoms out, I'm very stressed right now with my anxiety and this is worrying me and making it worse I think. Seems like I go from worrying about one thing to another...sigh...I would really appreciate any help..thanks!

Hello.
Do you think that the yellow stools could be due to too much stomach acid? It was my first thought because you say that you suffer with stress. Ask your Doctor if he thinks somthing like rinitidine might help.
Has the Doctor been keeping an eye on the hemmeroid? I would have thought that if it is still causing you to bleed he would have treated you for it or removed it by now. I think that you should go back to the Doctor because bleeding from the back passage is somthing that should never be left or ignored for too long.
Amberil,
yes i have your symptoms also, almost everyday for 3 years. I also have muscle and joint pain. I am yet undiagnosed.
You should probably have the scopes done. I know this is bad for anxiety, but you should rule out something bad.
One possibility that wont show up on scopes is a food intolerance, malabsorption issue.
The yellow color is probably from bile, but it doesnt mean anything in particular. It seems any kind of inflammation, or upset can cause this to happen.
The anxiety is a terrible thing, and it could be adding to or coming from the other problems.
One old antidepressant that may help is called doxepin. it can be used for
depression, anxiety and ibs.
You also may want to check out gluten sensitivity.
good luck.

Sometimes if stool doesn't remain in your intestines long enough, a brownish yellowish color can occur. Basically the stool isn't kept long enough for proper amount of bile to reach it. Yellow stools can also be infection. Generally pale grey stools and black/bloody stools are cause for alarm. Paler stools can be caused from malabsorption. Stress can bring about IBS symptoms.
