Just curious to know what you guys have experienced with urinary symptoms. I don't know if it's not being able to hold your urine or not able to expell all of your urine. Just curious!

Urinary symptoms can very from person to person. For some of us, like me, I have the constant urge to go. I am up atleast 2-3 times throughout the night and more times than not I feel like I need to go. Other people have the urg to go but once they get to the bathroom and sit down...nothing happens. I am currently undiagnosed so I'm not being treated for this but I know that there are some treatments for the urinary symptoms.

This is the one symptom that I dislike, when I have to go, I have to go and sometimes I leak before I go because I cannot get there fast enough and then after I go, I have to push the rest out of me :dizzy:

(how embarrassing:eek: )

Yes I have urinary symptoms. I frequently feel I need to go and when I get to the restroom can barely produce a stream. I have learned to lean forward to put a little pressure on my bladder.

The thing that drives me crazy is if I am out shopping or something, I rarely feel this urge! I guess some of it has to do with how unoccupied I am at home.

i have only been having urine symptoms the last few months,, i was diagnosed on 9/11 and never had anything like that till lately,, when i go it comes out like a bullet,, and i can do that once an hour,, i guess drinking alot of water might cause that,, but when i get the feeling i gotta go,, i gotta go,, i hate it when we are on the road heading to the dr or something cause it's almost an hour away and i am fighting it and trying to hold it in and that makes me so uncomfortable,, i will have to mention that to my neuro when i go back the 30th,, only thing about it is,, he will try and give me a pill,,, everytime i have a dang new symptom he gives me a prescription, and i am so sick of taking pills.

I have had every symptom as well. Finally one urologist suggested I self-cath. It was not hard to get use to, & it has made quite a difference. I suggest you all look into it. I look at it this way...you do what you have to do!

I do experience some urinary problems - very sudden urge to go and not making it sometimes - bit of a problem.

My aunt had quite a bit of trouble with this & was put on medication which she says helps so much. When we're on a night out - she only needs the loo once or twice while everyone else (MS or not) is up & down to the loo all night.

The medication is called Cystrin.

Unfortunately for me, I get both. It sucks big time! I go one from one month self-cathing, to another couple of months down the road leaking like a gutter. My bladder is soooo confused and it just irratates the heck out of me and my Urologist.

 When I switched nueros, the first thing she did was send me to a urologist. I didn't complain about problems specifically; she took my history and just said she sends all her new MS patients.
She [the urologist] set me up with self-caths. It's the best treatment I've received since I was diagnosed in 1994.
It's a little awkward at first, even can be a little painful, but the freedom from having to be sure and know that a bathroom is within 15 minutes or the ability to watch a whole movie with having to go is SO worth it.
I highly recommend you all try it! :)

PS I've seen some posts questioning sterilization issues. At first they told me to use the microwave. I had problems with melting :blob_fire so I switched to 1:3 vinegar:water, 10 minute soak followed by air drying and that's been working great. I've been using the same 30 catheters for over a year and have had no problems with infections. :D Good luck!

Please see my post about self-cathing. I strongly encourage you to see a urologist and try it.
