My daughter is almost 10 months and is now on her 4th ear infetion. We are going to see a specialist in 3 weeks.

My question is that for the past 2 weeks or so she shakes her head back and forth in a no position. She doesnt ' do it all the time but definately a copule of times a day. I was wondering if it could be the irritation of the fluid in her ears or am I looking at something else more serious?

Any elses babies do this or have done this?

My son is around 11 months and he started doing the same thing around ten months. At first I was concerned, but then I realized he just learned a new trick. Now, WHen I shake my head no, he does it back :p I'm not sure that he knows that it means "no," but he knows it means something and he's excited to communicate with me :p

I think it's normal If you want to be safe, I say go get him checked out, but my son is about your age, and does the same thing :)

my first used to shake his head from side to side whenever he heard a certain kind of noise, like the air conditioning unit from outside. he eventually stopped.

My DS shakes his head back and forth when I offer him something and he doesnt want it. Is she shaking it like she is saying no or in a different manner? Does it seem like it is hurting her? Kids really do imitate at this age, next time she is doing it look her right in the eyes and start shaking your head up and down as if your saying yes or any other kind of gesture and see what she does. I hope it works out for you and you figure out what is wrong with your little angel.:)

Liam shakes his head back and forth in his high chair and in his car seat. We decided that he likes the feeling of the pads on both of these rubbing against the back of his head. He laughs when he does it. Liam had bad ear infections all winter and we finally ended up having tubes put in - (A Major Improvement that I recommend BTW). I was concerned that his head rolling was another sign of infection but the doctor said no.

If you can, you may want to call your pediatrician and ask him/her. My bet is that it is just a fun thing for her to do.
