Hi All
I have had Labs exactly a year now, and although Im better its still not gone.
I dont think I can handle having this much more...its too much.
Does anyone know of a decent Neuro-otologist in London I can disuss different diagnosis with?
Perhaps I have MAV i dont know.
Dont get me wrong Im a lot better...but wont be happy till I reach 100%!!
Thanks
Hi Dizzyrascal,
I am seen in the national hospital of neurology and neurosurgery. I am seen on the NHS which means you can get to see a registrar working under the consultant rather than the consultant themselves. Luck of the draw. Although some of the registrars are very good indeed. The consultant I am seen under is Rosalyn Davies. The one time I did see her she was totally excellent. I couldn't recommend her more.
There's no harm in getting checked out by a neurotologist, but from what I've read about your condition lately I wouldn't despair. The spacey not quite right feeling can be the last thing to go. And as you probably know, the projected time for recovery from this is you find yourself with a stubborn case of VN can be two years.
best,

Hi Hbep
Thanks for the information. I will definetely try and see her, especially in light of the fact you think she is good ( you know how hard it is to find a decent consultant!)
I guess I shouldnt despair too much, but you cant help it when you havent felt normal for a year.Although my case does sort of fit Dr.Rauch's online video.I was really bad for a month, I was symptom free for 2 weeks, then wham a chronic compensation phase feeling really rough.I only saw improvement from month 6 and had been feeling pretty good the last 2 months with a few blips.I am having one at the moment actually, feeling nauseous and dizzy.
I have never had the spins, just this off balance, spacey, groggy head feeling.I know it is inner ear as my vision is always slightly off when I focus on things from certain distances.Gee its a strange illness.
The thing that gets to me the most is that you always have to think 'i hope im not really dizzy' when someone asks you if you want to go out or do something.Having plans when you are always dizzy is tough.
Anyhow, enough of my rant, Im sure you have heard all before.
Might as well check if I have MAV, got nothing to lose.
Thanks again for your help
