I have struggled with many of these issues for almost 7 years now, and have always been too embarrased to go in and see a doctor about it. Sometimes I won't go to the bathroom for a week, then it will be 4 times in a day. And every one will be different consitency. I have seen the mucus, and didn't know what to think of it. And often when I drink soda or coffee, my stomach hurts so bad I have to run home and use the toilet, almost crying on the way there. Also, often my BM is very painful, and feels like burning. Does this sound like IBS to anyone else? And if so, a) if I go and see my physician, is he going to agree with me on this? and b) do any treatments really help? I have read many posts, and it seems like everyone still struggles with this even when they have been diagnosed. Please shed some insight.. I really am just excited that I may have found out what is up with me!

also, i forgot to mention: I took accutane for acne when I was about 16. That is roughly when this seems to have started. I was looking up info on accutane and it said that it is possibly related to Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Anyone know anything about this, and is it related to IBS?

Thanks all!

Sounds like IBS, but we can't be sure over the internet - it's best to go to the Dr. and find out.

If it is IBS there are MANY different treatment options available. Gastros are best at treating IBS - you'll have to find one that is willing to treat the disorder though.
