I was diagnosed with adrenal suppression after the doctor tried to get me off prednisone. I've been on it for years for another medical condition. When I went off of it after surgery, (slowly weaned down) I developed muscle weakness, joint pain, etc.. The rheumatologist diagnosed me with myalgia and arthrialgia which he said was caused by a sleeping adrenal gland. He put me back on prednisone, to determine whether it was out temporarily or permanently asleep. and I have to admit, the pain and tightness in my muscles left me within a couple of days of starting the prednisone again. When I weaned back down to 5 mg according to his instruction, I started to feel the pain, weakness and tightness in my muscles again. I had made several attempts to go off, but when I go under 5 mg, even a mere 1/2 of a milligram, a couple of days later feel like a truck rode over me with terrible weakness, and muscle fatigue. The doctor told me there is nothing he can do, and to stay on the 5 mg permanently.
I am not totally convinced that my adrenal gland is permanently asleep and after the doctor settles down, will demand another stimulation test..

I am underweight and when I try to exercise I feel it weeks later,and can't do anything until my muscles recover. I have very little muscle. I have a water balance problem where it seems like I drain too much fluid and feel like my bones are sticking out without any cushioning?

Please help me to understand? The doctor never came out and said I have Addison's or Cushings, just said adrenal suppression. Is there a difference between suppression and Addison's or are they the same thing?
