 I would like to know if anyone out there has any symptoms of toe curling (not painful ) or no knee reflexes? I have been all over the Internet looking for information about these subjects. I'm pretty sure I have MS but I can't get diagnosised I recently had blood work and a MRI but only of the brain and upper spine not Lower spine were the pain is ...I know go figure that one out. doctor tried to said I just had low potassium. but when i asked about the toe curling, and absent reflexes, she said go see a neur- but that I had no MS...which amazed me because I found out 20% of MS patients have NO leisions on the spine or brain. thank you for any information any one can give me. thanks

Hi, I am not diagnosed but am "probable", when your toe curls is it due to a spasm? Does it happen frequently? I spasm and get toe cramps on a daily base and so my toes do weird things all the time and my reflexes are hyper sensitive. Ask my husband, I accidently knocked a glass out of his hand when I was stretching my leg and then lost control of it. Good luck to you, I hope that you find out what is causing this

I do have MS, dx'd 12/04 most of my problems are on my right side, my arm is numb from the shoulder to the fingertips, and probably will stay that way for ever. Now my toes on the right foot, sometimes the little toe curls under and my PCP said that it is not curling, but then why is my nail touching the floor?
My toe was curled under for about 2 months, and then it stopped, and who knows why? :dizzy:
When I get pedicures, and she is working on my right foot, it takes off all on it's own, I am afraid that my foot is going to smack her in the face, it just jerks all by itself and that is embarrrassing
There are alot of little symptoms that occur with MS patients, and they come and go, and this board lets MS patients and those un dx'd share these symptoms with each other and it helps to make you feel like you are not alone. At least that is what helps me ;)

I have had M.S. since 3/87, I still work full time but walking is difficult because of my toes curling under. Barefoot is not bad but shoes and socks are terrible.
My Dr. said it is absolutly M.S. she put me on Baclofin but I am getting off of it because it causes weak muscles and I cannot handle that.
I have been searching the internet and asking people who also have M.S. what they do.
Your post is very timely since I just sat down to search the net again rearding this subject. Hit me back if you find anything that helps.

I was diagnosed with MS 7/00 and soon after that I developed toe curling. My wife calls it foot clenching. In any event your toes curling is definitely a symptom of MS. How is your ability to walk otherwise? I went to a physical therapist and found out it was called spasticity. Do not be surprised or unduly upset if you fall. That might happen.

Cutz,
I had the last 3 toes on my right foot curl under,it was a partial lesion in the lumbar spine(partial transverse myelitis),unusual spot for lesions. It occured after a lumbar surgery in 1998.Also I lost my vision bilaterally.(devics disease)
My neurosurgeon told me I had MS ,I dismissed him and the diagnosis, the surgery had failed and thought he was covering his butt.
I had no other symptoms after I recovered from that until 2 years ago
I have absent reflex in right ankle.I lost it in the last year.My brain scan #1 showed cortical atrophy, most significant in occipital region plus one lesion, scan #2 lesion healed.C-spine-mild narrowing,no impingments--suspect demyelination.LP---highly elevated basic myelin protein.I don't meet the normal criteria for a diagnosis of MS.A year of testing and multiple blood draws, past devics disease led to the diagnoses.
Go to a neuro, absent reflexes and hypo reflexes are neurological in nature.Get a copy of your MRI reports ,keep copies of all test for your personal use.
The road to diagnosing MS is long,so hang on,buckle up.It took me 11 Docs to finally get my point across.I have put an excellent team together.my neurologist(MS Doc)neurosurgeon(back Doc)Electromuscular(she does all electro test EMG/NCS,keeps the MS seperated from the back issues)and my GP.They correspond with each other.
Theres a wealth of info here and great support, your not alone.
