Hi,:wave:
My boyfriend and i have been TTC for about 2 months now (first child). I was on BC however havent been for approximately 5 months now. I am pretty regular and usually get AF every 4 weeks. My boyfriend and i have been 'trying' every weekend and occasionally through the week. Is there something wrong with me or am i doing something wrong that is preventing me falling pregnant? I took a HPT 3 days ago in the afternoon and it came up negative. The reason i tested was that i have been really sick to my stomach smelling some foods (fatty foods particularly). I work at a fast food shop so im use to the smell and have never felt sick from it before. I have also been feeling quite generally sick in the stomach and headachy, my back also aches! i feeel like dirt! my stomach feels really queezy all the time. I guess im not pregnant though because i got a negative a few days ago???

Please anybody more experienced on this with any help for me would be Greatly appreciated thankyou :)

If you are wanting to be pregnant, then you need to time intercourse around ovulation. You may miss it on the weekends. And you could be pregnant, smells are usually my first symptom. If you are late, I would test again.

In response yes we are TTC and i am on my 3rd week of my cycle (im due for my period nxt weekend). I am getting very down as it seems like i get so close and then i get another BFN! :confused: I have felt constantly qeezy in the stomach for the past week today really badly. I smelt kebabs being cooked today and got ill feeling. I love kebabs! neway please respond with your thoughts

For the vast majority of women, the home pregnancy test is correct. If your period is due at the end of next weekend, you need to wait until then to begin testing.

Like pdisney said you have to time intercourse with the time that you ovulate. It is typically 14 days before the start of your next period. Even then you only have a 20% chance of it happening. I would suggest that you look up some info in the resourses boards on this site. They can tell you a lot. I didn't know any of this when I first statred TTC and the more I looked into it and read articles, the more I understand. Hope that helps some. Good luck!

thankyou all for your relpies so far, i have nothing more to report yet. Im waiting for this weekend so i can test again and then ill let you know what happens. Anybody who has been pregnant had the same smells prblem making them sick like me? just curious if im alone on that? also has anybody experienced flu like symptoms whilst pregnant?

For the past 2 days i have had the hiccups continuously and been burping alot! (sorry for the graphics). My areolas appear to be getting darker also. I have alot of flu like symptoms especailly headachy and achy. I was wondering if anybody had very sensative smelling when pregnant? it seems like i can smell everything before anybody else and also alot of smells are making me feel queezy.. is this happening or has this happened with anybody else that may have been pregnant before? im still waiting till the weekend to test because thats when AF is due.

Anybody that can suggest what the above symptoms may meen?? plz reply, so hopeful this time!

Ok so i took a Hpt on friday morning because i couldnt wait another day (impatient sorry) and it came up BFN! but im wondering since i didnt wait till after sunday (the day my period was due) if i tested to soon? It's Monday today so im 1 day late now. I havent been stressin about it so that shouldnt be delaying my period. Im still feeling quite bloated, tired and nauseas.
Anybody with any information please reply (Golden mom you help alot of people on this board so i was wondering if you could help me to plz?)

Anybody that knows please respond, im losing faith so fast

Hey milly
you may well of tested too soon, i know some of the sensitive pregnancy tests can pick up a BFN from before your period is even due, but i do know people who have had more than one BFN even after their period is due, before finally getting a BFP!
Remember false negatives are much more common than false positives, which can occur in certain and extreme situations but are very unlikely.
It sounds as though you are getting a lot of symptoms, if AF doesnt arrive i would test again in another couple of days or even go to your doctor and have a blood test, these are often said to be more accurate than urine pregnancy tests especially early on.

Thankyou so much for your reply fallen angel! i am now offically 2 days late, I dont wanna get my hopes up to much though. I hate seeing a BFN and definately hate when AF arrives. All my friends seem to be getting pregnant so easy and i feel like its taking me forever! im a bit impatient i know haha. Today im getting like twinges in my stomach which are a bit odd and im sorry if this is TMI but i have been quite gassy lately as well. I keep getting hot and cold flashes, one minute im cold and the next im hot.
Anybody else know if testing 3 days before your AF is due is to soon. I tested 3 days prior and got a BFN, but now my AF is 2 days late.
any help would be great, thanks

Hi Milly,

It's definitely possible that you tested too early. Some women get BFPs that early, and others don't. Every woman is different. Since you are still experiencing symptoms and since AF hasn't showed yet, I would test again (that's just me though). I know BFNs suck so bad. But if you are PG, wouldn't you like to know as soon as possible? Best of luck to you!!! I hope you get that BFP if you do test again!!

thankyou for your replies, i am now 3 days late. i still dont wana get my hopes up. Just so you all know though, it is very rare that my period is late. Im usually like clock work every 4 weeks without fail. I have dark veins on my breasts now and kinda around my nipples (sorry if TMI). I constantly feel wet down there to and the bloated feeling is still there. Is heart burn a symptom because lately i have been getting like really mild heart burn?

Today im 4 days late and getting my hopes up WAY to high! AHHHH :dizzy: i dont want to read to much into it coz i know AF will show up sooner or later! Today I kept thinking i had AF because i was so 'wet' down there (sorry TMI) but it wasnt.
I also have 1 sensative nipple (sounds crazy probably) only one of my nippes is really sensative, not only that entire breast is kind of aching...???? is that strange??? :confused: Today everytime i thought of food I wanted to be sick! Its terrible, my stomach feel so weak (like some foods just make me really sick to smell or think about)Any body experienced this or know about this type of thing??

5 days late now! i figure ill wait the full week just to make sure good old AF doesnt appear, beleive me im not that patient...i jst dont want to be disappointed and see BFN again :mad: I have been having alot of weird feelings in my stomach today and again off my food. STILL no AF and im 5 days late...
Anybody have any thoughts on that??

Hi ladies, ok well im officially 8 days late today and still no sign of af:confused:
I have a question for you all though. Today i kept going to the toilet because i was so 'wet' down there (sorry tmi), It felt like AF had come (if you get what i meen?? that uncomfortable feeling down there) but of course no af, just a clearish discharge that is kind of slippery/stretchy, the weird thing is there is SO much of it!!! i usually dont notice it like i have the last 2 days... wondering if this is pregnancy related??? also i've been feeling quite constipated and had weird stomach feelings and lower back ache, cravings for bacon (of all things haha) :jester: and sometimes i have been completely off food (just from the smell of it) I cant take a test till i go back into town which may not be for a few more days yet.:mad:

So hoping that ill be as lucky as all the other ladies in the past week with BFP's!!!! CONGRATZ EVERYBODY!!!:)

Goodness girl. Go ahead and test already! I'm dying over here! :D When I was pg, I had that same wet feeling and def. an increase in CM. I think you are pg, I would bet on it. WOOOO-HOOOO!:D :D :D

Hi girls, well i went to the chemist and got a pack of 2 hpt tests. I am going to try and wait till in the morning to take it though (coz i heard that tests are more effective of a morning) and i realy really dont want to see a BFN :mad: Just thought i'd give yas an update, ill report in first thing in the morning when i take a test

Update :confused: :mad: I just couldnt wait any longer so i took one of the hpt's. I made sure i didnt go to the toilet for 3 hours before i took the test and i got a BFN!!! how is that possible??? The egg white CM is still there excessively and today my breasts were REALLY tender! I've still been really tired and nauseas... so why no BFP??? i am 9 days late today!
Im so upset and confused all at once! :confused:

milly, another thing that i forgot to put in my other reply, why dont you go to the doctors and get a blood test? its said to be more accurate. my friend had 3 negative HPT's and only got a positive when she went to the doctor (she was convinced she wasnt pregnant by then- she now has a healthy daughter!)

I hope your right. I am so devistated! i was sure it was my turn this month. so many symptoms. :confused: Im going to try get a doctors appointment for saturday. Im having some sharp and dull pains up my stomach this morning??? not like af cramps or anything though...??? My BB's are SOOO sore today, even brushing against them HURTS! ( they never usually get sore even when i get af). My stomach is still really weird and bloated and again no sign of AF.

Hi Milly,

I'm convinced you are PG too. All the signs are there. And most importantly, AF is not. I agree with fallen, maybe a blood test from the dr will give you more accurate results. I can definitely understand why you are nervous & confused. A bunch of BFN's would scare me too, but all the symptoms are there. Good luck to you!! Please let us know what happens next!

hello everybody, well today is day 11 and still no sign of AF!!! I noticed today that my urine has a different smell to it, nothing bad just different. If im not PG then i don't understand what is going on because today my BB's are so SORE!!! like really really SORE!!! im feeling constipated frequently and very light headed. what is going on???:confused: I'm going to try get into the Doctors on saturday morning. what do you all think??

I would definately go to the doc and get a blood test done. I have heard of a lot of people who didn't get a BFP until weeks after AF was due. The copay would probably be cheaper than all the money spent on HPT's. Good luck to you - I hope this is your month!

Hey everybody now i dont want you's to get excited but i toook a test this morning and got a very faint positive line on the hpt. Now it was very faint so im just wondering if it was a positive??? I dont want to get to excited incase it wasn't actually a positive, it was very faint.
I'm still goin to the docs at 9:15 in the morning so ill see what happens.

was it visible straight away? cuz you can get whats known as an evap line anything after 10 mins later and many people make the mistake of reading these as being false positives.
But generally speaking, a line no matter how faint is still a positive if read within the correct time. i dont like those two line tests because i used to scrutinize them, i prefer the digital ones now, clearblue digital is excellent

hi ladies, well i went to the doctors and she basically was really blunt with me and basically told me that if i was pregnant it wouldve showed up by now on a hpt. Im 15 days late today and still no af. I got a blood test this morning and i will get my results back wednesday at my next doctor appointment. im not getting my hopes up after what the doctor told me the likely hood of being PG is very unlikely (she thinks it would have shown up on a hpt by now):confused: :confused: :confused:

im so dissapointed, but i guess ill just wait for the results...
whats the chances that i am pregnant???

sorry about your BFN :(
Its horrible when AF is that late and you are so sure it can only mean one thing and then you get let down, it happened to me a couple of months back.
Im not sure what the high white cell count means, did you ask your doctor about it? Best to keep an eye on stuff like that, im not saying it means something bad but definitely find out more about it.
Theres loads of reasons your AF could be late, it could even just be stress over TTC thats caused it. Try and relax for now and look forward to it arriving so that you can start next month as a fresh go at TTC. I know this month isnt my month either as i havent even ovulated, but theres always next month!

I'm so sorry for your BFN. It must have been a huge disappointment when everything seems like it's pointing to a BFP, then it's not. It's interesting that you mentioned about the high WBC. Did the doctor say you had any HCG in your blood? I was reading in one of my infertility books about the different WBC in our body. There is one type of WBC called natural killer cells that fight infection and rapid growing foreign cells (ie. cancer) and it attacks them. "The cells doesn't know how to differentiate the difference between a tumor that is growing in the uterus and a rapidly growing embyro. Some women have a larger than normal number of these killer cells..."

I'm not suggesting that it's the WBC that is causing you this confusion ( I hope it's not), but I thought it was interesting since you mentioned that your WBC is high.
I wish all the best for you next month. I hope you get your AF soon so you can start looking foward to next month.

Most hpt will measure hcg levels of 25 or greater (for a BFP). I recently took a blood test and the dr. said my hcg was 7. It wasn't really a neg. result, or a positive. I think what happened in my case is I got a BFP but was barely above the 25 marker to indicate a very faint BFP HPT. Then something happened and by the time I did my blood test it dropped to 7 (4 days later). Then my AF came. The nurse at the office said that I probably was pregnant, but miscarried very early on. But, by the time I got my blood test done, my HCG level was already dropping back down. I wonder if this is what is happening to you. Have you gotten AF yet? Do you chart your bbt? If you do, are you still getting a high temp.? Do you take any progesterone suppliments that would be delaying AF?

The book that I'm reading is called "Dr. Richard Marr's Fertility Book" It's alittle old, copyrighted in 1997. In it he states the role of white blood cells (helper cells, and killer cells). (Sorry, if this is getting too technical). "The helper cells promote health, aid in the growth of normal cellular systems, and handle most protective functions-attacking a virus that invades your system. Natural killer cells is designed to attack any rapidly growing or dividing cell that it finds in your body. Killer cells are the special immune cells that work to rid us of cancer, tumors, bacterial infections." Then he goes on to say that killer cells don't have the ability to differentiate between a tumor that is growing in the uterus, or a growing embryo. All the killer cells see is that there is a rapidly growing mass of cells and it will attack. He states that some women have a larger than normal number on these killer cells. They usually have a really strong immune system. And he states that there are ways to suppress them toa normal level.

When a blood sample is taken and gives you a result of the WBC, it usually won't separate the killer cells and helper cells. There are more highly specialized blood tests for that. What was the result of your WBC by the way? Did they tell you the number?

I think the book is pretty good, but it gets very technical. If you're not familiar with medical jargon, then it may be alittle strange to read, but still understandable.

I wonder if my WBC is high too. I work in a hospital environment and am exposed to a lot of different illnesses, and I don't get sick very often. I wonder if my WBC attacked this embryo that I had for a short time.

I would do a search on the web for killer cells and pregnancy and see what comes up. I haven't done it yet so I can't tell you what I've found.

I hope you find some answers soon. I know what it feels like to be in limbo. In the meantime try to relax and think of other things. So hard to do sometimes, I know.:dizzy:
