Got a question about kidney stone removal options. I have had them "blasted" out twice. Not really a big deal, just a little sore and I peed sand for a few days. I now have one in my kidney that is too big to pass and the doc said it can't be blasted while in the kidney because the only way to find it is with a catscan and you can't do a catscan while blasting???? So my options are wait to see if it will try to move out to my ureters (sp) where it can be located via a IVP x-ray and then blasted or they can go up and try to grab it and pull it out:dizzy:. I don't like the sound of that at all. Doc said he would stick a telescopic lens with a set of pinchers on the end of it into my penis and hunt the stone down, grab it, and pull it out. Makes me hurt just thinking about it. Anyone out there had this procedure done before? Is it as bad as it sounds? What about recovery?
That was the procedure I was supposed to have but my urologist played it conservative and gave me 3 months to pass the stone since the 4-5mm stone was not causing a complete blockage of the ureter. Fortunately the stone passed during the 11th week. He mentioned that during that specific procedure they would have to place a stent in the ureter which in some situations can result in a secondary infection which I was not excited about hearing. Depending on the size of your stone you may want to give it some time if there are no additional complications and depending on what your urologist says. As in your case my stone was not visible on a conventional X-ray which ruled out lithotripsy. Exercise seems to help move the stones along...swimming, running, etc.

Hi, I've had two kidney stones removed that way. While under general anesthsia, they go in through your urethra and take it out. But my stones were not in my kidney which made it earier for the doc to get. If you are not having any pain from it, I would wait a little while, drink A LOT of fluids, water, cranberry juice, and see if you can pass it. There are risks when they do the procedure, for I got a very bad urinary tract infection after my
2nd scope and ended up in the hospital again. Good luck.
