Hi all,
Does anyone else have arthritis in your feet and what do you do for it? I can not take arthritis medicine because I had back fusion surgery 3 months ago and it interfers with the bone growth. Any suggestions appreciated.

i have arthritis in both feet. the only thing that helps me is soaking them and making sure shoes are comfortable and fit right. if i'm on them too long and it acts up i rub some tiger balm in. that seems to help.

Every month or so, I will get a spa pedicure. Towards the end of the session, they will take a small wet towel and heat it in the microwave until it is almost too hot to handle. After 30 secs or so of cooling, they wrap one around each foot/ankle. It feels soooo good. If you have a microwave at home, you could do the same thing.
Another thing you can do is to make a rice pack with a cotton sock and long-grain rice. Fill the sock about 3/4 way with rice and then sew shut or tie a knot in the end. Nuke it in the microwave for 1-2 minutes and then enjoy the most marvelous moist heat.

I also have had arthritis in my feet for 15 yrs. I also use the moist heat(rice in a sock) or heating pad for any area other than my feet. I use cold gel packs, frozen bags of vegetables, & pop bottles filled w/water frozen for my feet. I roll my feet over the frozen bottle. The coldness is great for inflammation & seems to be the best treatment for my feet.
I always spend the extra money & buy the best shoes to wear. Without our feet, knees, & back you don't go anywhere. What you wear on your feet effects these other areas greatly, so be good to yourself:) .
Like others have said, soaking & massaging your feet also helps & feels great.
Can you take anything for pain at all?
Best wishes!
Thank you all so much for your suggestions. Roses4evver, yes I can take a tylenol based product, just nothing with ibuprofen in it. However, I have taken so much pain medicine before my back surgery that my system is so strong that tylenol doesn't even begin to touch the pain. My back is better, due to surgery, but my feet are killing me. The dr. put me in a post surgery boot to try to keep my foot straight, becasue I was turning my foot over on the side to walk, because it eased the pain some. The boot has helped some, but still need more suggestions as it will be several months before I can have my arthritis medicine back. Thanks again, all
