hi everyone,
you may have read some of my recent posts concerning my friend and this weird "pregnancy" thing thats going on with her. She constantly calls me wanting my help and advice with all of this.
Well, last night she called me saying she had been to the emergency department of the hospital again and they had given her an internal exam and told her that her uterus was clear from this miscarriage so she would not need a D&C, but she was apparently also told that she would have to come back the following week for another pregnancy test, as her uterus was still swollen and her cervix was closed, so they think she may still be pregnant. Even though she has miscarried, her boyfriend is one of triplets so they think she could have another one or two babies still inside her.
Does this make sense to anyone? is it possible? i just thought if you were miscarrying your cervix would be open not closed. i have heard of people losing one twin at a later stage with a multiple pregnancy, but i thought at an earlier stage you would lose the whole pregnancy?
it might sound like this is none of my business but i am concerned about her, both physically and mentally, as i think there is some problems there, and the fact she keeps asking for my help makes it difficult. i want to help her but am very confused with all of this

Hi,
I don't remember all the details, but 12 years ago, a good friend of mine was pregnant, and miscarried - so she thought. It turned out she was pregnant with twins and she went on the have the baby.
I know this happened pretty early in her pregnancy - and I'm not sure of all the medical details, but maybe the cervix is not open too much for an early miscarriage.
I also remember something about a girl I knew from high school, that was having issues and had a D&C and was still pregnant. I know even less of that detail, but she did go on to have the baby.
This is not to say your frien doesn't have some problems, she could very well have. Good luck to you both, and just hang in there with her. She may need you, either way this turns out.
