View Full Version : Middle Ear Fluid in Infant - Needs Tubes??

My 4 month old daughter who has DS, has chronic fluid in her ears (infection or not) and they say that it is like hearing everything through ear muffs. My ENT is hesitant to put tubes in right away but I am afraid this fluid will possibly damage her ears and delay her in speech. Has anyone else experienced this - and what did you do?
Thanks!

My daughter had her first set of tubes when she was 6 months old. She had persistent fluid for nearly 4 months before the tubes. I would suggest a second opinion...hearing loss is so prevalent in our kids with DS that waiting is a bit like rolling the dice.

Good luck!
