View Full Version : nuchal thickening

We just had an ultrasound at 20 weeks and was told that our baby boy has a nuchal thickening of 6.2. Does anyone know how out of the normal boundaries this is? The doctor suggested amniocentesis, but we are scared because of the risk of miscarriage. We lost a child last year from a molar pregnancy and I don't think we could take the pain of losing another one. For us, the amnio would only be to ease our minds...even if our child is diagnosed with down syndrome we will not choose to terminate so what is the point? Also, has anyone had an ultrasound that showed a soft marker and then had a perfectly healthy child.
Thank you for any help at all.
