:eek: Hi everyone. I was told yesterday that I have right lower lung lobe pnuemonia. I've never had pneumonia in my life. I'm a little worried about this. Should I be worried? Lungs are a vital organ right? I also need to call today to see if the barium is out of me from the barium swallow. How does someone get pneumonia, especially in the middle of summer? I just don't get it. I saw the doc on Tues, and got an antibiotic and have 3 days to go until the pills are gone. However, I still have the same cough and it's very dry in the morning, and then after a little while of being up, it starts to break up, but doesn't come up, it just sounds congested. They gave me vicodin for the pain I was having in my chest with this that is working. (For once something is working in my favor). Any suggestions, stories, thoughts? Thanks, Kimberly

I had right lower lobe pneumonia a few years back but I had it in the winter. You can get pneumonia at any time of the year if you are exposed to someone that has it. This could be in a mall,theater,etc. and you wouldn't even know it! If you take Prednisone it makes it easier to catch because it lowers the response your immune system has with lupus. I took antibiotics for 2 weeks and something for the pain when I coughed and I haven't had any issues since. They will repeat a chest x-ray to make sure you'r eOK. Good Luck! :)
