Hi, this is my first time on here. I hope I'm doing it all right. I don't know what all those picture codes are for though. Anyway, I have a 9 year old son with ds who has been complaining with his calves on his legs and the bottom of his feet hurting him. We are seeing an orthopedic they did blood work and ruled out pretty much everything MAJOR (such as leukemia) but still don't know why he is hurting. Has anyone experienced this? Please give me insight at smooreac@hotmail.com as soon as possible. We are scheduled to go back to the dr. tomorrow and he had mentioned putting him to sleep to do a MRI CT-scan of his spinal cord to see if anything is being pinched in there. I'm not to big on that. I as the parent just feel it is just muscle and joint aches. Is this just associated to ds? Thanks so much.

My daughter (2 1/2 DS) has leg and feet pains, especially in the between 8-11 pm. We have been watching, and it seems to be worse when she has been really active during the day. The best solution for us has been to rub Mineral Ice on them. It feels pretty helpless to know that they are suffering through the pains, but there has really been little else that helps.

Good luck! Keep us posted on what the docs say it is.

My 7-year old daughter also has cramps in her feet. I haven't really been concerned since my sister, who is typical, had them really bad as a child. She doesn't have them anymore so I guess she outgrew them. I think pains like that can be caused by growth.

Hello again. I just wanted to say thank you so much for your reply. We did return to the orthopedic and now he has referred us to a neurologist. He just wants to rule out that it's nothing neurologically. Then we will go back to him and he said once the neurologist rules out everything then he feels it is his ligaments and soft tissue in there and they could possibly give him an anti-inflammatory medication. We haven't been to the neurologist yet but I will let you know what the outcome is. Again, thank you for your time and concern. May God bless you and your family. Originally posted by masmiles:

Hello again to all. Well Austin has seen the neurologist. Just by his exam he doesn't feel like there is anything neurologically. But he ordered some tests also. And they just called us back with the results and his SED-rate was elevated, (which they said means that there is inflamation in there.) Anyway they want to repeat it and also they are doing a muscle enzyme test called creatine kinase. We just went and had this done this morning. So I gues we'll wait and see what they say. Keep you all posted. GOD BLESS!
