I had a baby back in June of 2005. During my pregnancy I developed a cyst on the downstairs opening. During delivery my doctor removed the cyst and sent it off to be checked. What would they have been looking for? Cancer? HPV? At my six week check up my doctor didn't even check me or do an exam he just talked to me in his office and he didn't tell me anything about the cyst. I assumed that all was fine. Now I hear more and more about HPV and I wonder if they would have checked the cyst to see if HPV was present in my body. Please respond!

I dont know of HPV being caused by a cyst....a wart yes.

I was also HPV. I was dx with it at least 6 years ago, had a LEEP done and been fine (Normal Paps) ever since.

I would call your doc and them about the cyst.

You don't think he would have told me at my six weeks that there was a problem? I don't have HPV or have never been dx with it I just was curious if they would have tested the cyst to see what it could be like cancer.

If I were you I would call the doctor and ask specifically about it. It could have been just an enlarged Bartholin gland/cyst. They help lubricate the vagina and can become enlarged or clogged and need treatment. I hope this helps.

I think my one doctor called it an "inclusion cyst" (SP) He said and the other dr confirmed that it happens a lot during pregnancy. Still he removed it right after I delivered my DD and sent it off to be tested. I never heard anything back and my dr didn't tell me anything at my 6 week check up last year. I'm due for my annual this Wednesday and I am freaking out. I have a little bit of a scar from where the cyst was removed. I guess I just wondered if they tested it for everything. Like the cells around it were they tested as well.
