I have been experiencing nausia for about a year now, and more recently severe stomach pain. I'm very active, served in the military, and love to work out, but the pain gets so bad that I can't even do basic situps and pushups. I've lost about 12 pounds in two months. I'm experiencing a deep pain just below my ribs where my diaphragm is. I also get sharp, knife like pains in my ribs on my right side. I've been so numerous doctors and they still have no answers. My latest doctor sent me to a GI specialist who told me that it is either an ulcer or gall stones. Today I had an ultrasound done and an upper scope and guess what, everything is normal. I'm only 23 and my pain is getting out of hand. I can't walk up a flight of stairs because it causes too much pain. Does anyone have any idea what it could be or have similar symptoms that I do?

Can you do a process of elimination... as many of us are not docs we can only make suggestions. You really need to follow up with a GI doc if you are still having issues.
I had my gallbladder removed after experiencing a similar pain and the tests were ALL negative Hidascan, ultrasound, CT etc..etc...
Know since Monday when I had the surgery the pain is gone... lol
Now I have new pain instead... due to the incision sites for gallbladder removal. I am no longer an athlete but was at one time... you need to be careful not to make things worse by working through the pain until you know for sure it is just muscle or something.
Ask yourself these question... what changes the pain if anything. eating, sitting, standing, raise your arms in the air... does this relieve the pressure.

At first my doctor thought it was just acid reflux which doesn't really make sense seeing that I don't have any type of burning sensation, eating doesn't affect my pain generally, and I don't taste acid in the back of my throat. But just to make sure I've been on three different digestive meds at separate times and none of them have worked. How did they determine that it was your gall bladder after the ultrasound came back normal? My specialist seemed to completely disregard any further ideas that it could be my gall bladder after the ultrasound results. Also, I have intense pain when I drink alcohol. I can have one beer and I get really bad pain in my normal areas. If I drink some water it will go away. Has anyone had anything like this?

Might not b a bad idea to keep a food & drink/pain log. Sometimes the doctors can figure it out by experience. The log will also help you figure out some of the things that trigger the pain. Eat smaller meals more freqently an see if this alleviates anything.

I have similiar pain sometimes it achy sometimes its teraing sometimes it inflammed feeling...
